MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Executive Tournament Committee of The 2007 National Father & Son Team Classic is proud to announce the Burroughs family and the Chapin family as joint recipients of the “Family of the Year” award. The 10th Annual Father & Son Team Classic will be held July 19-21, 2007 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
For generations, the two families have come together under the banner of Burroughs & Chapin Company (B&C) to lead the positive, family-oriented development of Myrtle Beach and Horry County. Today, via B&C, the Burroughs and Chapin families continue to grow the positive attributes of Myrtle Beach.

Past “Father of the Year” honorees include Joe Black, former President of the Professional Golfers Association, Lou Holtz, former Head Football Coach at the University of South Carolina, Jim Hodges, former South Carolina Governor, Happ Lathrop, the Executive Director of the South Carolina Golf Association, Dal Shealy, the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Cecil Brandon, the “Father of Myrtle Beach Golf”, Bobby Richardson, 1960 World Series Most Valuable Player, and Gary Schaal, past PGA President.
The National Father & Son Team Classic is the largest father and son golf competition in the world. Played on the Grand Strand's most requested golf courses, the championship is a 54-hole event offering a different format each day. The 2007 event will draw more than 1,600 players from 44 states and nine foreign countries.
