Families across the country are encouraged to play golf together during “July is Family Golf Month”, a PGA Play Golf America program designed to provide a structured, yet casual opportunity for families to learn the game of golf together. Golfing enthusiasts and Grammy award winners Vince Gill and Amy Grant, along with their six-year-old daughter, Corrina, are the spokesfamily for the program.
“Vince Gill and Amy Grant have always been great ambassadors for the game of golf. Now, they are sharing their passion with their daughter,” said PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb. “We truly appreciate their support and know their involvement will inspire families everywhere to find PGA Professionals participating in ‘July is Family Golf Month.’”
Facilities participating in “July is Family Golf Month,” will offer family golf clinics and play days for a nominal fee, as well as programs such as Take Your Daughter to the Course Week (July 9-15) and Bring Your Kids to the Golf Range.
Other confirmed family programs for 2007 include Family Golf Month grass roots programs such as Family Golf Clinics, Family Play Days, Kids Play Free Programs, and Family Golf Leagues. Host PGA Professionals may also customize additional programs that best fit their facility, resources and style such as 3-, 6-, or 9-hole scrambles, family golf tees and score cards or a family cookout to celebrate the day.
Consumers will be able to find a complete list of facilities participating in “July is Family Golf Month,” along with details on specific events and online registration, by zip code on the Play Golf America Web site at http://www.PlayGolfAmerica.com/.
