Richie Ramsay and Lloyd Saltman, two of Scotland’s highest profile amateur players, will join many of Europe’s finest up-and-coming professional talents at the Scottish Challenge presented by Bank of Scotland Corporate.
The appearance of Ramsay and Saltman in the €200,000 event, the third richest tournament on the 2007 Challenge Tour Schedule, to be played at the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club from August 9-12, will be a huge boost to the Scottish Challenge presented by Bank of Scotland Corporate.
Ramsay, who finished fourth in the 2006 Scottish Challenge, last summer became the first Scotsman to win the prestigious US Amateur Championship since 1898 – and the first British winner since 1911 – and as a result earned entry into this season’s Masters Tournament and US Open Championship.
Saltman, who won the Silver Medal as the leading amateur at The 2005 Open Championship at St Andrews by finishing 15th, has made an unbelievable start to his 2007 season in the amateur ranks, winning four titles, including the world renowned Lytham Trophy.
Both players featured in the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup Team in 2005, and are part of the 20-man squad for this year’s edition of amateur golf’s Ryder Cup.
