Jack Nicklaus, captain of U.S. Presidents Cup team Presidents Cup teams finalized

The teams for the Presidents Cup have been finalized as U.S. captain Jack Nicklaus and International team captain Gary Player each added their two captain's selections to the list of 10 automatic qualifiers.

The additions to the U.S. team made by Nicklaus were Hunter Mahan and Lucas Glover. Player's captain's selections were Nick O'Hern and Mike Weir.

Automatic qualifiers for the U.S. team were Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Zach Johnson, Charles Howell III, David Toms, Scott Verplank, Steve Stricker, Stewart Cink and Woody Austin.

The automatic International qualifiers were Ernie Els, Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Geoff Ogilvy, Rory Sabbatini, K.J. Choi, Retief Goosen, Angel Cabrera, Trevor Immelman and Stuart Appleby.

The Presidents Cup will be played Sept. 27-30 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal.

PGA Championship ratings strong

The final round of Sunday's PGA Championship earned a 6.8 overnight rating and a 15 share, which marked the fifth-highest in the metered markets for the event since 1986, according to the Associated Press.

However, Tiger Woods' two-stroke victory at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Okla., didn't quite match up to the ratings for his three previous PGA Championship victories in 1999 (7.7 overnight rating and 18 share), 2000 (10.0/23) and 2006 (7.2/16).

Lefty taking his game abroad

Tournament organizers for the $4 million Singapore Open have announced that PGA Tour player Phil Mickelson has joined the field for what is being touted as Asia's richest national Open.

Mickelson joins a field that already includes two-time defending champion Adam Scott, current U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera, Michael Campbell, Darren Clarke, Ernie Els and Vijay Singh.

The tournament will be played Nov. 1-4 on the Singapore Serapong course, located on the island of Sentosa.
