Kenny Perry posted a playoff victory over Brad Adamonis and Jay Williamson Sunday to capture the John Deere Classic. The win on the first extra hole at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., gave Perry his third victory in his last five starts and propelled him to second in the FedEx Cup standings, trailing only Tiger Woods.

Kenny Perry has made no secret of the fact that his only goal this season is to earn a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team and compete at Valhalla. Some have criticized that approach, but Perry said that won't change his plans. "I'm not going to lie: (The criticism) kind of bothers me a little bit," Perry said as he prepared for the John Deere Classic. "But you know what, I'm an independent contractor. I can do whatever I want, and I like that."

While Tiger Woods fully expects to be back on the PGA Tour in 2009, the world No. 1-ranked player says the exact date of his return remains unknown after having season-ending knee surgery. "I'm just looking forward to actually walking again and putting weight on this leg for the first time," Woods said.
