Golf Course: Los Robles Greens, Thousand Oaks, CA, U.S.A. Date: 11/10/2008 Hole Number: 6 Yardage: 178 Club Used: 8-Iron "Hi Ray, I suppose you could share this with the club (A Weekend Golf Club) and the world... I have been very busy lately and I have not been able to find the time to play with the club lately... I regret it! But, I did find the time to sneak out of the office yesterday to Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks California with 5 of my friends for a round (6 players). I am a numbers guy and whenever I see something strange, I like to point it out. First, my favorite # is 3 because my son was born on 03-23-03 on the 3rd floor at West Hills Hospital. Not to mention he weighed 6 lbs 3 ozīs and now lives at 933 Alexandra Court, Oak Park, CA 91377 (and where we lived before he was born). I should have seen it coming! I wonīt go into details, but I had a bet with two of my friends for a free round of Golf which we played yesterday. So, I arrived at Los Robles yesterday in the afternoon and paid for my two friends because I lost the bet. Kenny rang up the Green Fees and Carts for 3 for $111. (3 ones = three) I have the receipt. I was playing fairly decent and arrived at the 6th hole being 2 over par. If youīre not familiar with this hole, hole #6 (which by the way is divisible by 3) is a very elevated par 3 running next to the freeway stretching 178 yards to the middle of the green from the blue tees. Hole 6 was playing a little down-wind on Monday at around 1:30pm when we arrived to the tee box and was playing to a Front Red Pin approximately 10 paces on the front of the green and favoring the right hand side. I was second to hit from the blue tees. My friend, Tod, who hit before me topped it off the tee which is usually not a great thing to follow, but I thought it best not to hold up slow play... :-) I have to add this and pay attention to the ending numbers of my birthday 08-28-68, as compared to my sonīs 03-23-03. The second digit is the same! Weird or Fate? So, guess what club I pulled out? Yeah, an 8-Iron... I must point out I was not aware of anything Magical that day, but it was about to happen... Now, you could see most of the green, but the front portion toward the right hand side was shielded by the big oak tree limb. So you really could not see the hole. I teeīd my ball up, envisioned a slight draw, took dead aim, and was really quite pleased with the shot being that I new it would be close and my friends and I were playing closest to the pin for extra cash. The shot was exactly like I envisioned (reflecting on it you really could not have had a better expectation following your pre-vision shot routine), it was a perfect draw. But at first, I thought I had hit it too far... And said, "Get down!" But, I didnīt see it land. You could see long on the green, and you could see short and I knew my ball most likely was not either. I even joked with my other friend, Brennan, when we were getting into the cart that it looked like perhaps a hole in one and I might just win the closey... When we parked at the bottom I was slow in getting out and my friend Tod ran out over and on the green and looked inside the hole...I still could not make out anything on the green for I was still making my way over to it... Tod, blurts out...Itīs NOT in the hole!... I looked short of the green (saw no golf balls), then I looked long of the hole (saw no golf balls), and before I even stepped up to the green and saw anything... I yelled Yahooo!!!!! Really loud...My other friends in the group in front of us (Jimmy, Matt K., and Matt G.) were teeing off on Hole #7 and I yelled again with my pointer finger pointing to the heavens... I suppose it was rude to the group putting on hole #3, but just when I thought that they all starting clapping.... I didnīt even know any of those golfers... Then, I went over to the hole, looked at the divot just past the hole 5-7 or so inches to the right of the hole, and looked inside the hole to my amazement... My first Hole-In-One! This has been one of my biggest goals in life...sad but true...And guess what, nothing has ever been more rewarding... I lost my dad on 12/19/07 and his Birthday was on Sunday! (The day before we played golf.) And, on that Monday, I thought about it from the moment I awoke. You see, that Monday, yesterday was my Mother and Fatherīs Anniversary. The first with my mother being alone. I have always been close to my parents and was and are being supportive of my mother as much as possible with work, my own family life, and Golf (one has to keep his sanity). You know...although, I must admit I have always had doubts with the higher powers...But, on that day, that Monday at around 1:30pm on that Hole #6 my father made that happen...My first hole in one! Thanks Dad! (Again, Kenney rang up my credit card for $111 on that fateful day - that would be a hole-in-one on the par 3 if you read the numbers like I do and the sign of what was to come. And since I am a nut-ball, I may as well tell you that yesterdayīs date was 11-10-08, notice the 111 again and the 8 as in 8-iron or my birth dateīs #2 repetitive digit.) P.S. I am sorry if I made this a little too sappy, but itīs all true...One canīt help notice and point out all these similarities...And check out the picture I have attached for your viewing pleasure (people donīt tend to believe). Also, Kenny at the pro shop was talking about sending some sort of Certificate that I know I will cherish forever... Everyone who plays golf knows there is only so much skill involved in golf. There is this element of luck or what happened to me... Coincidence? I am not convinced, but everyone can make his or her own judgment. Oh yeah, in case you were wondering, we were playing in a 3-some. Cheers to all golfers that aspire to achieve such greatness...Itīs worth it and everything you dream about! I (on a good day) hit 110 for 18 holes. This was not a good day. I hit the ball heading for the flag, but because of my poor eyesight I thought I had over shot the hole. I started looking for my ball behind the hole. my co-golfers suggested I check the hole. I walked by and glanced into the hole, thinking they were just goshing me. There it was a "hole in one". None of the other golfers had ever seen one. Bill talks about a club he has that had hit a Hole in one. I sort of wish it had happened to a better golfer, or that I was a better golfer.
