Mexico Golf/Culture/Tequila Tours
Would you like to try a little something different than the traditional golf package with the room, green fees and welcome cocktail with the umbrella? Dave Simmonds, long-time Mexico travel expert and writer thinks you would.
“I've met a million of these guys over the years,” Simmonds says. “They get off the course, back to the hotel, and they don't know how to go about seeing the town, enjoying the culture, and getting to know the people.”
Inspired by the concept of educating the traveling golfer to the riches of Mexico, Simmonds started the Mexico Golf/Culture/Tequila Tours. The first destination he targeted is beautiful Puerto Vallarta, one of Mexico's true golf hotbeds. Simmonds has secured accommodations at the beach-front Paradise Village Resort, one of the finest properties in Mexico. You're package will include golf at the new El Tigre Golf Course designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril, and the Vista Vallarta courses from Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. Together, the three layouts are sure to form one of the most indelible golf memories of your life.
After a morning round of great golf you'll have an escorted tour of Sayulita, a gorgeous little fishing village surrounded by jungle just up the coast. Your day will wind down with an early dinner and drinks at a seaside palapa restaurant. After another day of championship, resort style golf, you will be escorted out for a night on the town, where you'll get to know the ins and outs of historic Puerto Vallarta. You're free to hang with the others in the group (maximum of 12 people) or wander about on your own. You will get to know the Vallarta the “insiders” know…where the best street tacos are, great shopping, small Inns that you might want to visit on another trip, all the things that have made Puerto Vallarta the favorite town of Simmonds, who truly has seen it all since arriving here in 1970. The van takes you back to the hotel where you'll need a good night's sleep after yet another night of festivities.
Other activities will be offered, often depending on the wishes and make-up of the group. You will have the choice to join in on them, or just hang around the resort and beach when you want. Do you want to skip a day of golf and would rather have spa treatments or a day of sport-fishing? That can be arranged. These tours are designed to let you do what you want to.
