World class golf courses of Jamaica Golf

Jamaica is home to several world-class golf courses, including the Caribbean's oldest. Most are located in and around resort centers, making them easy to find and convenient as a half-day excursion. Jamaica golf courses range in difficulty, but finding one to suit every level of player ability shouldn't be too hard given the island's selection of links. Among Jamaica's best courses, golfers will find Caymanas in Kingston, and the Half Moon Golf Club, Ironshore, the Tryall Golf Club, and the Wyndham Rose Hall Resort in the Montego Bay area. All are 18-hole courses, but for a more leisurely 9-hole outing try the Grand Lido Braco Golf Club near Discovery Bay on the north shore, or the Manchester Club inland in Mandeville.

  Built on former sugar plantation, Tryall was once an LPGA Tour stop and host of the prestigious Johnnie Walker World Championship. The course has undergone several recent renovations and is in top form.

Jamaica Transportation

Getting to Jamaica is not a problem, and at just two and half hours from Miami, it is in fact one of the easier destinations to get to in the Caribbean. Popular carriers departing from North America include Air Jamaica, Air Canada, American, Northwest and USAir. Departing from within the Caribbean is not a problem either, as Air Jamaica, Air Sunshine, BWIA and Cayman Airways are a few of the carriers that make scheduled flights between islands. Jamaica is also a very popular cruise destination. Well known lines include Carnival, Celebrity, Princess and Royal Caribbean.

You must be 25 to rent a car in Jamaica and can use your home drive's license for a period of three months. Most of the frequented cities in Jamaica are within two hours of each other, and the journey, on the left side of the road, is a visually enjoyable experience.
