CELTIC TIGER August 11, 2008, 6:12 am

by Peter Fry
What is wrong with American golf? Its becomming embarrassing the fact that American golfers can't win. Perry (what age is he?) is the star golfer who else has won anything? Week after week players from around the World keep winning. This Ryder Cup could be the nail in the coffin for American golf. Mickelson is talking about playing on the European Tour next year. I've never known American golf to be in such a bad state. The Celtic Tiger had assumed the mantle from America's only golfer. What were you guys saying about Harrington a few months ago? He's shoved it back at you...way to go Padraig!

Nervous Chris July 2, 2008, 3:34 pm

Wow! Sounds to me that Mr. Chris Baldwin (author of this child-like rant) is pretty nervous about coming up with his own stories. Being a golf-writer is easy when Tiger is playing: You simply read 10 other stories about Tiger, grab a Thesaurus, and rewrite it with that "I'm tough behind my keyboard" attitude. While reading this immature tirade, I kept expecting to come across a line about Chris sleeping with somebody's mom.
I encourage the readers not to listen to Baldwin's drivel. It is neither wise or nurturing.

Tiger-less July 1, 2008, 10:30 am

by King Robert of Shankalot
What a Tiger-less season means is that YOU GUYS (golf media) have to start learning other player's names and histories.
Yup...sorry guys, you're gonna have to WORK for a living now, just like in the old days...
Sucks, eh?

You're correct that golf telecasts won't have the same audience they did with Tiger in the field. Now real golfers can return to watching the telecasts without having to tolerate Johnny "I Love Tiger" Miller and the rest of the Tiger idiots go on incessantly about their man. If any other broadcaster talked about a participant the way these guys do, they would get canned in a minute.

OH MAN---I AM WITH YOU GUYS.
I LIKE IT JUST THE WAY IT IS NOW.
I GOT AN OLD SOCK WE CAN STUFF IN MILLER'S MOUTH. OR---HE CAN CLEAN TIGER'S POOL.

Great story,I printed the pages, grounded them up, and the BS worked great as fertilizer. Tiger is a great golfer, but give it a rest. The world does not revolve around him. There are other great golfers and the competition can, and will be just as interesting. Besides maybe with him at home, the U.S. can win the Ryder Cup

Perry,Austin prove PGA OK for real fans July 1, 2008, 8:29 am

by K.Fuller
For real golf fans the PGA Tour stop last week in Michigan was very entertaining. Kenny Perry and Woody Austin two veterans in a battle with big hitter Bubba Watson lurking in the last group. So what if Tiger was not there? Tiger has changed golf for the better in many, many ways but he has also created a monster. A media monster that in an effort to passify the fringe/casual observer not only will not stop the Tiger overload, but they feel compelled to be-little, or slap down the rest of professional golf! Note to golf media: The "What's everybody talking about?" crowd is gone for the year, get over it! Now get your butts out there and cover the people who are playing. There are some great stories out there, like Kenny Perry for example, look it up!

Golf will go on just fine. I would sooner watch it wihout him than listen to three bobblheads yap for four days about his short size, colour of his boxers, shine his shoes and praise the very ground he walks on etc., etc..
Th guys a great golfer, but get you media hypes back to covering golf, not personalities.

Tiger... July 1, 2008, 8:22 am

by Ron
Amen !!! What was once a staple of my TV Entertainmnet ( Network Golf ) has turned into an exercise in channel surfing. Did you know that the male Seahorse carries their young.. Did catch Woody ( fifteen minutes of fame ) Austin throw up all over himself in Michigan.. Old Wood heart bogeyed both 17 and 18 to lose a tournament that was surely his. Tiger birdied 18 to force a playoff and then to continue one. Wood hands couldn't get a par. A PAR !!

Don't worry, the ghost of Tiger will still be mentioned on every golf telecast.
There will be footage of how Tiger played this course in previous years.
There will be discussion on how Tiger would easily be able to defeat the current leaders.
And, without fail, there will be the medical updates on Tiger's knee from every sports doctor available detailing where Tiger's recovery stands at this very moment.
It's not their fault, they just can't help themselves.
