It seems the sport world want Tiger to be taken from the number spot. Maybe the other golfer should work on their game instead of bring Tiger down; He is mentally stronger than the other players and has a journey to be and stay the best golfer in the world.

Tiger is #1 in the world and will make tons of money well into the future. The problem that I have with Tiger and other pro athletes is that he doesn't understand the value of the fans. The same fans who support the growing golf industry and make it attractive to sponsors to “fork out” HUGE paychecks and endorsements. Tiger doesn’t take the time to engage with the fans like a Palmer, Michelson, Daly, or Furyk do on a regular basis. I admire Tiger's abilities and accomplishments, but Tiger will look back on his career and wish he was truly "LOVED" by the fans, like a Palmer, Michelson, or even Daly. Tiger will always be admired and respected for his accomplishments, just like Jack Nicklaus, but they will never be as loved as some of the other greats. Read up on Jack Nicklaus, he is very jealous of Arnie’s Army and the love they have for Palmer; the same will happen to Tiger, however I don’t think he cares. He’s all business.

Tiger's competition April 22, 2008, 6:30 pm

Another thing! Professional men's golf has become boring!!!!!!!! When Jack was winning, there was at least Palmer, Player, Trevino, and Watson who could beat him regularly. Those head-to-head competitions made golf interesting and exciting.
Now, the announcers have to really build up the tournament if Tiger is running away with it. Or, lament that Tiger is having an off day when he isn't leading.
I'd rather watch the LPGA. They're cuter, and the competition is there. Although if Lorena continues in Annika's dominating shoes, then the LPGA could get boring too.

There is too much money on the PGA tour. Only Tiger is interested in the record books. As players get older and start a family, they lose interest in winning. As long as they can earn millions for being in the top 25 (?) and endorsements, why should they even struggle to beat the best current player?

reporters should report what is and or has happening.Don't speculate.Don't compare different players with other times. Tv people should talk less and watch. If you go to a tournament nobody is explaining any thing to you.TV is pictures ,that should be enough.I wonder sometimes if these guys get paid by the word. Whats wrong with just the backgroung sound even if it's just the wind.Enough with Kelly also,Wie?

Pundits and Haters April 22, 2008, 5:06 pm

It would be so very nice if the golf writers would do just that, write intelligently and realistically about the game many of us love so much. And do the same with regards to the players of the game. All of the ridiculous spectulations about unbeaten season, breaking the win streak, and the mythical "Grand Slam" is boring and demeaning to the game and it's players. There are many outstanding professionals in this game, write insightfully about them and what contributes to their successes and the things needing attention in their skills. I am an absolute Tiger Woods fan, but I'm bored to death with much of the commentary on him and I amused by some of the inane questions that are sometimes presented to him during interviews. It is also of concern to me that the very best player in the game today, maybe of all time, is an American who is a good father and husband, a great contributor to the lives of many young people looking for for a good life inside and outside of golf, is a great citizen, has had a very distinguished career, and has integrity...but is still the target of venemous comments from many members of this readership. Could it be because this particular American doesn't look like those Americans (predominately white males) making the continuous nasty, negative comments? And this American player does not fit the expectation or stereo-type our venom-ladened commentors have for athletes who look like him? And we all know that the American player referenced here is Tiger Woods. Now some may respond that I'm playing "the race card". Not true!! Racial disharmony is a historical reality in this country, including the present. I'm simply asking what specific documentation exists to explain the hatred...absent of racial difference? Please, any of you who are so negative toward this man, what specifically fuels your position?

Tiger is missing- so what April 22, 2008, 4:49 pm

I think the golf world article about his alleged infantilization of the opposition is a bunch of hype. Tiger could have won the Masters is a fantasy as he lost it the first 3 days with a driving average of 55% versus Immelman's of over 80%. Immelman was also longer. Have you ever seen tiger at Harbor Town-no its too tight. Don't you think it is strange consequence that all these world match plays are on courses that are fairly wide open just for Tiger. They have allegedly moved one of the WGC events to another course later in the year as tiger did not like the current one. Tiger may not win another masters now that they have narrowed it by lengthing it and with all those trees makes a target course. Of course then we hear all the whining that its now too tough and plays like a Open. Excuse me- it is a major and should be a test of golf not an entertainment platform for all the Tiger lovers.
I for one will enjoy not seeing tiger and not having see his round repeated 6 times while all the other players are playing. The PGA insults all its other great players which was never done in past days. It seems the only way someone can get on TV when Tiger is playing is if they hole it from the fairway or chip it in. When you watch other sports do you see one player or the whole team. Isn't the PGA a brotherhood of golfers competing on the same field against each other. Just like a playing field for other sports like baseball we don't just put our camera on the 1st baseman.
