PGA and LPGA equal May 2, 2007, 4:43 am

There are two ways to make pay days equal on these tours.
1. Raise the pay out of the LPGA
2. Lower the pay out of the PGA
Perhaps if choice #2 is selected the cost of golf (and sponsor's products) will also be lower.

As always, the women's game is shrouded in mystery and hype. Can they play? Yes. Can they hit it 260 to 280? Maybe two of them. The average out there is probably 230 carry. Can the men hit it 320? Maybe five of them. What is the average carry? Probably 275. Then factor in the 30 yards of role that they get and you get some big numbers. If the average player could hit the fairways on the majority of the American Tours, you could safely average 30 yards further. Do you really believe a person can hit a driver 275 plus, but needs a wood to hit it 200? I don't think so.
The women's tour is so obsessed with competing with the men's tour that they are losing sight of what they do well. Can Michele compete with the men? Not a decent professional or amateur. During her much heralded run through the US PubLinks, she was ok until she got to the good college guys and then she got beat quick. The only cut she made was in a men's event in Korea where there were probably twenty good players. She then came in last.
Why does the LPGA let her send her message, which is so detremental to women's golf. Michele says that if she is good enough, she will play with the men, not the women. In other words, the womens tour is am inferior arena. What a bad signal.
There are two different games. The strongest women are like the weaker men. Can they play with them? Never. Why has Anika not said a word since Ft. Worth? She knows. There is nothing wrong with that. Guess what? I cannot play in the NBA. I would like to. I would like to make millions, but I am too old, too fat and have too little talent. Why is there nothing wrong with my saying that, but something wrong with my saying Michele is not good enough to play with the men? Go figure.
