She's still a teeny bopper March 2, 2006, 1:07 pm

Your assessment is not entirely wrong Baldwin, just a little crude. She's still a teeny bopper and a real nice teeny bopper at that, probably overwhelmed by the lure of money and the victim of very poor coaching by her agent(s).I will agree though, that it is time she did something to be worthy of all the hype she is getting.

RIDICULOUS COMPARISON! March 2, 2006, 12:01 pm

Your compasrison of Michelle Wie to Terrel Owens is so ridiculous it's offensive.
Remove me from your list!

The Big Wie-sy March 2, 2006, 8:11 am

Chris Baldwin is way off base comparing Michelle Wie's behavior to TO. For starters, golf is an individual sport where the only person you need to be accountable to is yourself. Golfers are paid according to how they perform on the course. If they play poorly, they don't get paid. If they're fortunate enough to be marketable without ever winning a tournament, they get big fat Omega endorsement contracts. Cry me a river Mr. Baldwin. To compare the behavior of a 16 year old girl to a 30 year old man is ridiculous. What she has accomplished at 16 is remarkable. I'm sure Chris Baldwin was "this close" to winning the US Open when he was 15. Oh yeah, and then he had to put another quarter into the Nintendo machine.

I normally don't agree with you, but
you are right on this time. So she
finished 2nd in the U. S. Women's
Open. Who finished 2nd in the men's.
Not too many people know and more than
that do they care. She hasn't earned
anything yet, and until she actually
does win, she should be rated down in
the pack where she belongs.

Apparently, the writer has better things to do than check Ms. Wies stats. She finished 2d at the U.S. Womens Open. If she had been picking up a check in the number of tournaments that she has played in she would instantly be in the top ten and this all as a young woman still in high school. Given time, she will probably become the next Annika. Give the kid a break, people who suddenly get great wealth and notarity often need to find themselves as far as interviews go. She will do better next time and the time after that. I personally believe that she will make a cut on the men's tour eventually and change the way we look at golf forever.

MIchelle Wie vs TO March 2, 2006, 4:06 am

You have got to be kidding! How can you even compare this 16 year old girl to one of the most egotistical men in professional sports history. Ok, she likes her new watch. When I was 16 I was showing off the 1971 Mercury Monterray that my parents bought for me. Your 0-32 comment made it sound like the hype around this girl is for nothing. Anyone that can shoot a 64 at age 10, qualify for the US Women's Amateur Championship that same year, advance to the semifinals of that same tournament 2 years later, regularily hit drives well over 300 yards, and nearly make the cut in a PGA event deserves whatever attention that she can. She may not have won any LPGA tournaments yet, but she will have plenty under her belt by the time she walks away from the game. This girl is exactly what the LPGA needs.

Baldwin, you sound like the middle age balding man that you are. You know, the guy who can't handle the success of someone more talented and deserving. Are you kidding me, she's sixteen. You sound like a Morgan Pressel spokesman. Let me remind you she left Morgan in tears, while she carried herself just as you would expect a teen would - just happy to be in the position that she is in. Money is supposed to change that? How old is Owens? My man, you live on another planet...

Can you believe it!! March 1, 2006, 6:23 pm

I'm with you buddy! It would be like some internet blog magazine with a bunch of writers whose credibility we know nothing of, telling us that all these courses are great, and then seeing the same courses as advertisers. Or bashing a course owner, whether he is scum or not, who is also an ex-advertisor. I mean come on that would be just as bad. What Michelle did would be like the same magazine coming up with over the top headlines to get people to read click on their sites, so they can tell advertisers about all these hits they are getting to justify their charge.
Thankfully that kind of stuff doesn't happen, cause that would be pretty shameful!
