You're dead solid perfect on the Wie story. I blame her handlers: the Wie Little Parents and her Huge Sponsors and Agents. They have taken a potentially young phenom and created a spoiled athlete with 10 million in sponsor money, that blames things on everything but herself. Tiger is indeed the model for all young athletes regardless of which game they choose. Wie will be Tigers age in 14 years. If someone doesn't change her path soon, we may not even remember her name by then.

Your story on Michelle was right on... it takes some maturity to compete at the pro level, and she doesn't have it. Greedy sponsors, eager to sell tickets want her to play for what's become a circus sideshow. Meanwhile, deserving men pros who have to rely on sponsors exemptions or Monday qualifiers get shut out because she is handed one of their spots.
Unless she earns her spots like the men have to, she won't appreciate the hard work it took to get that spot and fail every time.

I know Michelle Wie is an easy target, what with the hype, expectation, and the whole "circus that is Michelle," but you guys might go a little overboard. Am I mistaken, or isn't she being managed by IGM? She's got a damn lot of game no matter her age, she's good looking, and tournament sponsors are falling over themselves to get her to play their event. I for one love watching her--win or lose--as well as the other young guns trying to beat the veterans. It's entertaining and sometimes great golf. Everybody needs a story and beating up Michelle Wie seems to attract an inordinate number of writers--just like the Tiger "slump" always has--yikes, slump this.
She's on tour so she's fair game--but I don't think she or Annika get their just due. Come on guys--a little perspective please. I mean, who are the adults here.

I always look forward to your emails because your analysis of various golf topics are always "Right On."
Michelle Wie is only sixteen years old and it appears like she is not getting the right advice from her parents. They need to seek a professional manager to manage her career. Michelle needs to learn how to win before she trys the big boys on the PGA tour. She is trying to do more than she is capable of doing, especially at her age.
If she is not careful, she will be burned out before she is twenty. It's to bad because she seems like a nice kid.
