I'm guessing the reaction to your article (and mine as well) might be like Muslims reacting to Danish cartoons, but just for a minute let me suggest what's wrong with your position. A 50+ Shaq would look foolish playing in the NBA, as would a 50+ Sanders in the NFL. But the top players on the Champions tour are only a hair away from competing well on their younger counterparts tour. Maybe not week-in week-out, but in golf you can say that about 90% of the big tour players.

Beer driver champion & Champions Tour August 24, 2005, 4:13 pm

When I was a freshman in college, our English paper was to be written about why you shouldn't walk on the snow if there was grass underneath the snow. (The snow packs down on the pathways and ruins the grass...) 29 out of 30 wrote on why it was bad. 1 (A+ student) wrote on why it was a good idea.
This writter re: the Champions tour only wanted to be controversial. He probably has stock in pharmaceutical companies that sell nitro medication.

Champions Tour March 27, 2005, 11:45 am

Golf is a life time sport! The Champions Tour is for Pros that "they"
won't let play on the "the Tour". You don't have to watch. I'm 53 and I like
the "beer guy" and watching him win was
better than 90% of what else is on TV!

Dump Champions Tour March 24, 2005, 4:58 pm

by Jim Fraser
Would You also dump the LPGA Tour? After all, these women are not the best in the world at their sport. They are only the best "women" golfers in the world. How about the AJGA, you have to be a junior to play. They are certainly not the best in the world. How about the Nationwide Tour? "Hey, if you can't make it in the big league, you shouldn't be able to play anywhere". The point is that the PGA Tour is for the best players in the world, period. All of the other tours except the European, Asian and South African etc are qualified. You have to be a female, senior, junior or celebrity to play on them. Is Annika Soenstam the best player in the world? Not even close. She may be the best female golfer of all time, but she showed that she cannot compete with the men on the PGA tour. Golf, and all sports for that matter, is entertainment. It's on television to draw viewers who will then watch comercials and by more of the rpoducts that are advertised. If people are interested in watching, it will get televised. Midget Golf would be on television every week if the networks thought it would draw more viewers than the Champions Tour, or the PGA Tour for that matter.

the same guy who looked up at Michaelangelo when he was on his back and said "that sucks."
That is why TV offers us channels. Not channel, channels - Plural. So idiots like you can switch to NASCAR.

First i want to excuse for my poor english.
Most important, i totally disagree with that opinion.
You show a lack of respect for all the great ones who made the histoty and gave a character to the game.
Who is able to swing like Tiger, Adam Scott and all those copy and paste swings.
Golf is also a matter of history, personnality and morphology and that is why Champions tour is about
