Well that settles it MacDonald; you are the jerk you look like, a true discrace to the Scots Irish heritage. Have you ever personally been to an LPGA tournament and watched Lorena Ochoa smoke one 285 off the tee? If you don't think there's something to learn by watching a 5'6" female's (gasp) swing hit a golf ball that far, you're an ignorant jerk too. I'd bet a paycheck that you couldn't beat her if you played the forward tees with a 9 stroke spot! And if you're not interested in watching Creamer, Gulbis, Kerr, et al, just to watch, then I probably have issues with other of your personality traits.

That article on the LPGA is totally sexist. Obviously, the author has never attended an LPGA event. These players are a lot more fun to watch, and they are more accessible to the fans. As for Annika, she is undoubtably HOT! She is unquestionably the best golfer, male or female. All you have to do is compare the records of Annika and Tiger. Annika has more wins than Tiger; her scoring average is better; and her winning percentage is better. Maybe if more male journalists would consider these factors, then women's golf would get the positive press it deserves!

I do watch the LPGA. It is far more interesting than the Champions tour. It has great personalities, like Cristina Kim, or Natalie Gulbis (she's hot). Some of the young Korean girls are very good and also good looking. Showing some of the sashed up old timers like Beth Daniel or Meg Mallen is not the way to sell the LPGA. Show Paula Kreamer, and yes, Michelle Wie.

Women's golf has improved markedly over the past five years. As Tiger raised the conditioining bar on the men's tour, Annika has done the same with the women. The women are more conscious of their 'presentation', not only as athletes, but as the fair set. Call that sexist if you will, but they are doing more for the game than ever before. The talent level grows and they are making some inroads into running down Annika in a collective effort to prevent the 'mail-in' result by the Swede. The men are making in-roads reeling in Tiger and who's to say the women won't be doing the same. You can bet the competition will heat up. Bashing the LPGA is bush league by some hacks looking for a scoop. But the bashing and cheap shots have replaced insightful reporting because its easier to tear down than build and it fits the sarcastic leanings of many of today's pretentious scribes.

unfortunately the media determines what goes in front of the public's eyes and ears and they like controversy, sex or tragedy.
they don't like it when someone like Annika just keeps beating everyone in the field. there's just not enough for the media to make it interesting or sellable... It's the old catch 22 "If they don't sell the LPGA & then very few will be interested in it"

Once again, great article and I also have to agree that the LPGA has lost alot of its star power in the recent years. It's practically getting to a point that who really wants to see Annika win week after week. But for now, that's all the LPGA has. I wish someone would take Michelle Wie and teach her the mental game. I have seen her in amateur and pro events and she lacks the mental game or the "killer instinct". She does not know how to put it away or out of reach. I have been golfing for about 23 years now and only do it for fun but have been below a 10 handicap. I was a professional bowler for 17 years and the same goes for that sport. You need to know how to put someone away or out of reach, may it be 4 or 5 strikes in a row or 3 birdies in a row. The mental game is the most important asset anyone can have in ANY sport. Michelle is a great golfer, even at close to 16, she can match or surpass Annika if someone would just teach her the mental game aspect. That just could give the LPGA and good shot in the arm and get it back to where it needs to be. You can't blame management on everything, it's the players responsibility also. There are plenty of nice looking ladies on tour, but if they refuse to do the "sex sells" advertising, then that is their choice and no one should ever infringe on their right. Oh and by the way, Annika is hot, got a chance to talk to her at the LPGA US Open at Pinehurst and is a very well mannered lady. Just because she does not do the "sex sells", oh well that is her choice and you have to respect her for making that choice.
