I read the fax....
Mr. O'Hair as a Dad knowing what it is like to love your son more than anything in the world, I can't understand how you could be so delusional with your thinking. Its so clear that you pushed you son away from you. Please swallow you pride, apologize to Sean for what you attempted to hold him to. It's clear you motivations were co mingled with self interests then diluted business principle rational. It's more clear that a man like Sean would be reciprocating his financial blessings to you had your approach been more fatherly rather than a breeder. The only time a young man deserves a slap is if he disrespects his mother. You tried to bully him and overpower Sean, you are lucky he never kicked your ass. Ask your creator to show you what has really happened here. Start to repair you relationship with you son, you have so much to be proud of.

Sean O'Hair's childhood August 10, 2005, 11:57 am

by Bill Walsh
STOP ALREADY. When are celebrities going to figure out that there are some topics that are simply not worth discussing. Sean is not going to gain anything by humoring questions (about his childhood or his relationship with his father) with an answer. Sean is in the public eye because he has distinguished himself as a good golfer. The public is not going to change its attitude about Sean as a golfer (ie is he good or bad, a choker or a winner etc.) because of what happened to him as a child. Sean needs to simply refuse to discuss the matter. Or cleverly redirect the conversation back to his golf game.
Does anyone out there really give a rip about how every pro golfer spent their childhood? Perhaps all the players who have not won should be studied for defects in their past (my parents never disiplined me enough) to explain their 'failure' out on Tour. What a joke.
The problem is that the freekin press can't think of an intelligent question because they were too lazy to get off their fat asses and walk the course with the players to see what is really going on. Perhaps we need to post the 'scores' for the members of the press on the 'intelligence' of their line of questions and if you can't think of anything smart then they lose your press badge and the free meal ticket they get with it.

Hey.....I guess he may have a point with the media and stuff...all you put out on your little article was the stuff that looks incriminating or bad...hmmmmmmmm....I normally like your articles and your letter, and I actually read the 17 page fax. I found it to be enlightening. I might not have so many mis-truths as one might think. Sounds like he might have had a smart-mouth, spoiled, punk kid who grew up thinking he should have anything he wanted and no one should stand in the way..least of all an adult..or his father. Maybe a few more kids need to be slapped in the face a few times to learn not to mouth off at their parents or to teach them some manners. There might be a little more respect for people in the world. There are two sides to this story, no matter what you think. If poor Sean didn't want to play golf, he could have waited till he was 18 and then walked away from it all and done his own thing. But...no...he plays on the politically correct idiots in this world and suddenly he is the "VICTIM".....Sounds like a lot of criminals that I read about in the paper. "It wasn't my fault, I was raised bad and mistreated"..yeah, Sean..keep saying that..All the way to the bank. One day maybe you will realize that you are also to blame as much as your father. And Mark...get real..if Sean didn't know he was going to cash in, he wouldn't have "toughed" it out and kept playing golf. Sounds like he got the best of the deal...the money, the tour and all you poor bleeding hearts to think he was terribly wronged.

You and ol' Marc oughta get together, hoist a few non-alcoholic beverages, and have a long, long harangue about how the yoots of this world got no durn respect for their elders, and what they need is a good smack to set 'em straight. We're adults, damn it, and we deserve respect no matter what!
Then, after you feel all puffed up and high-and-mighty, waddle back to the Barcoloungers, turn on Bill O'Reilly, and fade back into your pissed-off little world.
Meanwhile, I'm going to thank the god of my choice that I'm not your kid, your wife, or your dog.

I didn't read the fax. It looks to me like Sean turned out ok. The part I did read about his dad talking about college was spot on. Don't kid yourself here ok? Standards in the US have really tanked the last 30 or 40 years by Biblical standards. If you are a believer, you know what I am talking about, if not, then ok... sorry.

THE LAW, BUT NO TEST August 10, 2005, 6:44 am

by JB BRAUN
The law requires that one get a blood test and a license to get married... Unfortunately for Sean... there are no tests or laws that can validate one's ability to be a parent. His Dad has apparently been rowing with one oar for quite some time.

That may be, but his son doesn't sound like much of a man either.... Sounds like he had a pretty good life. Traveling, golfing, golf acadamy training, etc.... Sounds like he could be a spoiled brat and for that he deserves a slap in the face...If more parents gave kids discipline then we wouldn't have as many issues with kids disrespcting people and maybe they would actually take responsibility for their own actions. Remember, there are always two sides to the story and it looks like we finally got a little glimpse that big, bad daddy may not have been so bad after all.
