MASTERS RETIREMENT April 13, 2005, 12:46 pm

by FRED SELTMAN
NICE TO SEE THE OLDER PLAYERS AT THE MASTERS---BUT---TIMES HAVE CHANGES. MANY, MANY SUPER PLAYERS OUT THERE SO LETS MAKE ROOM FOR THEM. MASTERS WINNERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO DROP OUT AT AGE 60. SOME AGE OTHER THAN PLAY FOREVER. SOUNDS TERRIBLE BUT IT'S TIME.

Anti-golf comments April 13, 2005, 7:01 am

Gentlemen, I hereby cancel my e-mail subscription to your so-called newsletter which should aptly be renamed the World Anti-Golf Magazine. There is absolutely nothing of value in this newsletter and I'm simply fed up seeing nothing but negative articles from your editors. Have these children nothing better to do than criticize the people who have made their sport so appealing to the public to watch and play? I just don't need this kind of SPAM coming from such ignorant and ungrateful people who don't have 1/100th of the skill in the golf or their own writing skill as the people they are criticizing. With luck, many more people will follow my example and put all of you out of work!

Good response, well written. I disagree, because when I have the time I enjoy reading these interesting articles from younger folks who love golf. I just started playing recently and I am almost 50 years old. Services as this internet subsription have helped me to enjoy the game and indeed stick with the sport that humbles.
Your response was very harsh to good writers. ?Furthermore, does not the game in general need more new players? It seems to me that there is no shortage of golf courses.

Tiger's Comeback April 13, 2005, 6:50 am

by Bob Tremmel
Let me preface this by saying I've been a Tiger Woods fan since day one and was delighted to see him win the Masters. However, I'm not totally convinced that he's back. He certainly didn't look like a champion when he hit his driver almost into the next county on 17 and dumped his approach into the trap on 18.And while the shot on 16 was spectacular, his tee shot was not very good. I also question his judgement on 17. If Jack had the two lead stroke lead the driver would have stayed in his bag. Tiger can hit his two iron almost as far as DeMarco hits his driver. A three wood here would have sealed Chris's fate and there would have been no playoff.

Numbers 6:24-26
"The Lord bless you, and keep you:
The LORD make his face shine upon you, and be gracious unto you:
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you PEACE."
In JESUS name. Amen.

Jack Nicklaus April 13, 2005, 3:33 am

by Nick Aramino
Chris, Chris, Chris! Those of us out training pants know that Jack WILL NOT be back. You compare his Master's retirement announcement with Palmer's yearly threats; but there is no parallel -- the two personalities, the two men -- are totally different. Young man, you have so very much to learn.
