Slow Play May 19, 2008, 11:38 am

by Dave Keely
I am a 57 year old athlete that picked up golf 7 years ago. I am now a 10 hadicap but always walk the courses with my sun mountain push cart. I get frustated with a ranger that assumes that I will be slow. My observation is that if we would put hadicapes on the tee blocks such as 1 to 9 for the tips or blue 10 - 20 for the whites and 21 - 30 for what is usually called senior. All too often I see guys hitting from the tips and they are not good enough. They end up all over and hold up play. I also see a lot of players on a cart who really don't understand the 90 degree rule or how to drop off one guy with more than one club and then go find their ball. I think these guys hold more play than a walk because most of us that walk are already prepared for our next shot. In conclustion it really is embarrassing to see some of these big guys riding anyway since they need the exercise. Most public course are a piece of cake to walk. Dave

Wedge Play February 29, 2008, 6:40 pm

Marc's tips on club head position are great! Many wedge tips discuss lead arm position during the swing, but few talk about where the club should be in those positions. I always found it difficult to figure out how much wrist-cock to use, until now. Thanks Marc, Great visual !!!

When I first played the game, I had an unbelievable chip & pitch shot for a beginner having stumbled upon the principles Marc describes here. I always felt like I could and often did land my chip within 3 feet of the flag.
That was until I started reading conflicting golf tips & advice from other teachers. Shame on me for not sticking to what works.
Try it, it so simple yet it can dramatically change your game. You won't believe how simple it is. Don't let it's simplicity stop fool you.
Marc Solomon is the best. I live in South Africa but as soon as I get a chance, I am going to his golf school.
