The real pity is that these people are allowed on the course. I really like to play for money, it puts a real edge on a game. try to follow these simple rules never play for more than you are willing to lose, doing that will spoil your nerve and only play against people who's game you know, so you don't get duped.

Great article on golf hustling in Las Vegas. Jack Sheehan has it right. In the '70's at the old Sahara Country Club (now Las Vegas National), then owned by the Del Webb organization, often there would be so much money in the gallery for matches set up by Binion's Horseshoe for their regulars, including some World Series of Golf notables, that guards were assigned, by Binion's, to assure they weren't robbed. After the matches the players would repair to the clubhouse and play Gin for thousands. And, Jay Sarno was no paragon of virtue on the course either, as he was known to improve a lie (or lay, depending upon your point of view) from time to time.
