Defense of Tiger April 1, 2008, 1:01 pm

I think Tiger is a class act! OK, Tiger occasionally makes a profane comment; well, please list all the 32 year old male athletes who have not cursed this year.
And, Tiger's anger was justified. That camera click cost him a greenie, possibly a birdie, possibly momentum, possibly a win at Doral, possibly the extension of his winning streak. I've seen many older golfers curse with a lot less at stake.
I think the PGA tour has to do a lot more to govern the crowds and the photographers who follow Tiger.
I think Tiger handles his fame, his talent and his position as a role model excellently. We live in a world of rudeness with corrupt politicians and movie stars and athletes and citizens. Let's not hold Tiger to a higher standard than everyone else.
Tiger is the best thing that ever happened to golf.

Jeez, if Tiger ever runs for President, his temper and foul language could come back to haunt him. Unless he runs on the Republican ticket.

The way some of you are offended by Tiger's language, you'd think he was a Steroid popping, wife beating, cocaine sniffing baseball player, or something. Such reaction to absolutely nothing is absurd when compared to the nonsense that goes on within the MLB, NFL, NBA, etc. I give the NHL a pass on this as the worst they do is beat the crap out of each other. I bet many of you Tiger bashers are Obama supporters and give his association with the Racist Wright a complete blind eye.

WTF? Tiger & Obama, Rev. Wright..huh? Hmmm, so through your lens you see race & politics in this? Unbelievable!

woods lack of class April 1, 2008, 12:25 pm

am absolutely tired of woods. He owes the game not the other way around. I don't think he would have a yacht & jet without golf. It is a game and not life or death. He is way out of control and the golf channel feeds this nonsense.
Woods-grow up!

laughing at Jim's post. You little insecure JEALOUS bitter children need to get a grip. EVERYONE, the networks & other media for ratings, journalist who get to cover & attend these events, comping their meals & perks, all the other players, etc. Should THANK Tiger because they are ALL riding on his coat-tail. Because of Tiger PRIZE MONEY & POPULARITY has sky-rocketed. He is RESPONSIBLE FOR THE POPULARITY OF GOLF. You are so blind with envy that you can't see that? Pathetic!

Tiger's so called rage April 1, 2008, 12:00 pm

I watched the tournament on TV; what they showed was Tiger saying disgustedly "Not on my backswing" Was there additional dialogue?
Just as Arnie brought the game to "Joe Sixpack" I think Tiger has opened the game to the kids and the economically disadvantaged. I am a Tiger fan and although he occasionally utters strong language I find his character quite acceptable.

Tiger's Outage April 1, 2008, 11:50 am

There's an old golf saying, to the effect, you can learn more about someone by playing 18 holes with them than you can learn by working with them for years. I now know all I need to know about the fist-pumping, profanity using, hot-headed, poor loser, supposed hero of this sport. He's just like all the other over paid professional athletes, jerks. Does no one notice the hypocrisy in his actions (this isn't the only outburst he's had when not playing well), given his involvement with 1st Tee and other children's charities, including his own? I grew up with a great respect for this game watching my real heroes - Palmer, Hogan, Sneed, Nicklaus, Player - none of them EVER insulted the game like Woods has, which is where I learned that respect. I think I'll start watching the ladies - they're still ladies and treat the game like ladies - money hasn't spoiled them.

Tiger's latest outburst April 1, 2008, 11:32 am

by Mike McGregor
More often than not, these spontaneous outbursts of profanity from Tiger et al, are the result of some bone-head media photographer trying to capture the moment, with no regard for the etiquette of the grand old game. So, before you go criticizing the players for these rare occurences, why don't you clean up your own back yard?

Great winner...poor loser...your article is the truth and he should show some class when not doing PERFECT...Matt Kuchar smiles when the breaks do not go his way..maybe Tiger could take a lesson in humilty and class from him....no question Tiger is the Best of this era but learn to accept less then perfect for the children and people watching..he should be the example...everyone knows he is great but they also notice how he handles himself both with good shots and poor shots and breaks....
