Sour Grapes & jealousy April 1, 2008, 4:33 pm

by JJ
First why do we need mics on Tiger or any other golfer? What would we miss if they weren't there? NOTHING! DON'T SNAP THE CAMERA DURING THE SWING? IT'S THAT SIMPLE...ALL THE PLAYERS ASK? IS IT SOOO HARD?
There is soooo much JEALOUSY and envy that it's ooozing out of my computer. You know it's jealousy when they write about the prize money, jets etc. When I go to a professional event it's the BEER soak couch potato out of shape YAHOOS that spoil it, not the athletes.
You are ALL hypocrites and full of it with this false outrage. You go to baseball, football or basketball and FANS are the worst perpetrators. Not to mention all you OVER THE TOP parents at your little league events, pestering the coaches, other players etc. PUULEEASE!
It's really jealousy that Tiger is as good as he is. You want to hang on to Arnie, Jack and the good ole boys in the good ole days when only a certain few were even allowed to participate. That's the REAL issue, but you use surrogate issues to hide behind.
Tiger alone has lifted the sport, transformed the body & behavior of golfers with conditioning, raised the prize money, exposure and popularity.
Pathetic children grow up!

Come on guys April 1, 2008, 4:23 pm

I would say 95% of grown men on a golf course curse. If you say Jack and Arnie never cursed you apparently never followed them around in their prime. And golf is a gentleman's sport to society. Most of you have heard the conversations that go on inside a country club and they are typically not gentleman like.

First of all Tigers not the best ever and he'll be lucky to make the top 5. Losing your cool on the course is part of the game but how you act is what makes you a pro. Todays golfers are just a bit spoilled compared to the best that played years ago. It's so much easier for these guys to win now with such large purses and extended time off to rest for majors, of course its easier to win. Back in the day they had to win to pay bills , eat you know the little things. I'd love to see Jack and the boys take 3 or 4 weeks off to relax and hop a private jet to a tourny. Today they walk around like it's an honor for us to watch them and then act in a way thats not so good for the elderly or children to see or here. Maybe if we tlked about the real pros of the game the spotlight might move and some may start with a new attitude

You are insane, not top 5, thanks for the laugh. Man, reading all these insecure pathetic jealous post is amusing and you tell on yourself.
Talk about what real pros of the game? Who?
Todays golfers are in better shape, condition (thanks to Tiger leading the charge) & the field is deeper than it's ever been.
You guys whine like little frustrated boys!

Tiger's behavior on the course April 1, 2008, 3:09 pm

by Arnold Lawing
Oh my goodness,we have seen that Tiger can get hot on the course and blows off a bit of steam. Give me a break! Do any of you listen to the filthy trash talk that happens in the NFL and the NBA every week.Profanity is part of our trash talking culture. No I don't like it,but it's a reality.

You miss the point, Arnold. Your namesake AP aka The King acted on course like the gentleman he was and, yes, trash talking is an unfortunate part of pro sport but in our innocence we hoped that golf, at least, is above that level. Federer does not curse the ball boys and break racquets over net posts, Schumacher did not curse his pit crew (and he was risking his life, not a double bogey.) Pro golfers have become perhaps the most spoiled of all pro athletes - Dan Jenkins suggests that fans (and particularly volunteers) boycott three tournaments in a row - the PGA tour could not exist with the thousands of volunteers who put up with the bad manners of Tiger and his fellow participants. Want class - try Steve Nash of the NBA Suns. Tiger puts very little back into the game apart from his charities, and he's not alone.

What does Steve Nash put back into the game? Tiger is responsible for the rise in popularity & prize money.

Wake Up America April 1, 2008, 3:04 pm

by Richard Chew
First of all you guys need to wake the F--k up and stop thinking that Jack, Arnie and all the rest are the icons for being Gentlemen of Golf...They Swore and badly...Remember Tommy Bolt!!!
Sports figures swear...they are human and are allowed to swear...the next time you swear at home to your spouses and in front of your kids take a pause to remember your comments on this matter.
Lastly, don't use the fact that cameras being a part of todays game as an excuse to slam Tiger...if it were Phil Mickelson or any other golf you would find an excuse to justify...idoits.
Tiger should keep on doing what he is doing...and if a photographer does it again...he/she should be removed. What you fail to want to admit is that Being a gentelman goes both ways...the media has to be respectful as much as the athletes do...
Wake up America!!!

I have said for years that he is not a
"TRUE CHAMPION". Now you see his true colors. He is an arrogant pig. No excuses for him please.
As they say in baseball--"THROW THE BUM OUT".

Tiger's Outburst.. April 1, 2008, 1:28 pm

by Reggie
Well written article and I agree. Tiger needs to rise above using so much profanity and consciously lessen it as he can. While some outburst may be responsive and expected, his not realizing the need to apologize is tragic. When you add that to his seldom signing of autographs and to his being aloof, it taints his legacy. With all this said he is and will be the greatest Golfer of all time. No doubt.
