"GOLF, FOOTBALL", GET REAL.... January 29, 2008, 2:52 pm

by Chuck Collet
Golf and Football... Lets see now!!! There are two wars going on in the middle east, (one in Afganistan and one in Iraq).Almost 4000 of America's precious BEST have died, and there will be many more).Tens of thousands of children (and adults are dying of starvation or are being burnt or macheteed to death in places like the Congo, Darfur, (Duh, whers Darfur)and many other countries. So here everyone is in this forum, acting like 3 year olds who somebody has dissed.. THEY ARE BOTH GAMES YOU DUMMIES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES.. Nothing more than a way to waste a few precious hours out of a life that is always far to short, and delude ourselves into thinking if we cheer for one team or person to win over another we may be able to do without the little blue pills for a couple of days, or "John" will be a quarter of an inch longer..I send out my condolences to any members of the opposite sex, (or the same sex), must be politically correct musn't one), who have to put up with the juvenile antics of grown men acting like small children even more than usual.. It would'nt surprise me to read that a few of you have blown an anurism or had some level of heart attack over the suggestion that any accomplishment by a bunch of "roid twits" is worth getting steamed up over.. I you were to channel that kind of energy into relationships with your family and friends I have a feeling that this world would be a much better place.. So try to control yourselves fellas and please try to remember that they are nothing, I mean "NOTHING" more than mindless GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES, GAMES..

Chuck Collett, take it easy with your heavy-handed morals by using "troops dying in Iraq" analogy to condemn and put down all of the people here blogging abt this article. It's an old overused cliche so get over how high and mighty you are. Sports are an escape, a way to forget abt all of the ugliness in the world so we can actually enjoy ourseleves. We are criticizing a poorly written article by Wolfrum that has little or no evidence backing it's premise. You're basically saying that we should not care about sports since there are greater issues at hand. If that's the case, I'm amazed you had timke to even make that post since i'm sure your days are filled with charitly work, feeding the poor, and helping out war vets. Get a life Chuck and let us enjoy our sports. Be "Debbie Downer" somewhere else you punk.

Mr. Draffone. You sir make my point for me. You want to "escape", "forget about all the ugliness in the world"?? Thats what supports the continuance of the "UGLINESS"..How about putting down that beer, getting up off "Your" arse, and give up a few hours of your couch potato life to do something positive for the world we live in.. I "have" a life, but I would still suggest that "Yours" could stand a adjustment of priorities. A "Debbie Downer" I will gladly be as long as mindless fools have any influence in this or any other forum... Regards, Chuck Collet, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia

Hey Chuck, my priorities are very much in order thank you very much. I do have a normal life and care deeply about my family and friends. My point was that it's actually ok to enjoy sports.
Myself nor anyone else should feel guilty because we are blogging about sports instead of the major social and economic issues in the world today. Just because we like the Patriots and felt Wolfrum's article was poorly written and backed with little evidence supporting his premise, does not mean that we are soul-less individuals condemned to Hell who care little for the world around them.

Liam;- I appreciate your reply. I was not suggesting that you didn't care about what is going on around us and it's place in our priorities. I was trying to make the point that "I",(that is singular) think that too many of the things that we may enjoy have become far to much of an obsession and that leads to a barage of off the wall attacks on someone who has written a small article about a sport. By the way, "I" can only speak for myself, but I think the article if it is read carefully a couple of times, and you delete the first two paragraphs as the writer suggests, "they aren't flying", you might see that he really does have a lot of positive things to say about both the patriots being the best team ever in the league and also about Tiger Woods.. Anyway, if I have offended you I apologize and hope that these "over the top" blogs can be kept to a minimum by all of us.. Regards; Chuck Collet, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia..

Pats January 29, 2008, 2:15 pm

I did read golf related articles and visitied World Golf.com but now you can shove it up your ass. I guess it is ok for the Yankees to dominate for many years, but god forbid a New England or Boston Team does. Should we consider writing about the Red Sox to. Gotta like a winner and the Patriots and Tiger are in a world of their own shithead.

Wolfrum Stick to Analyzing Mini-Golf!!! January 29, 2008, 2:12 pm

Wolfrum, your article makes no sense and provides no evidence to back-up your premise other than the Pats claimed they won their first 3 super bowls as a team "without any superstars." Well now that they have the superstars, what is wrong with that? It's not like the Pats are the New York Yankees, who out spend the rest of MLB by 100 million dollars and puts together an all-star lineup yr after yr. The Patriots operate under the same salary cap as the 31 other teams in the NFL! They just work the salary cap better than the rest of the league. Not only that but they get these "superstars" to buy into a team- first philosophy and accept below-market value deals. So they are Zombies because they are a organization who's players put winning above money and show-boating? That actually sounds like the way sports are supposed to be played. Wolfrum would prefer a bunch of Chad Johnson-types since they are loud, arrogant, boastful, team cancers, and above all, not Zombies. Wolfrum, you're loser. You sound just like Greg Easterbrook of Espn.
