Won't it be refreshing to watch a ryder cup without Woods. It will be refreshing to watch any outing without Woods. I for one am tired of having Mr. Woods pushed down my throat every 15 minutes on the golf channel. If he wins, it's another 4 weeks of Tiger highlights. If he loses, it's another 4 weeks of Tiger highlights. I've stopped watching the golf channel and choose the golf I watch to make sure Tiger isn't playing. There are other players i enjoy seeing. Sometimes they are winning, but we must watch how Tiger is doing in 15th spot. Most of the time i'd rather cut the lawn that watch golf. Tiger is the best right now and he deserves everything he wins. I realize how much time and effort it takes to achieve what he has achieved, but lets watch some of the other guys for a while. However long Tiger is out will be a nice change for a lot of the golf fans.

I couldn't agree more, many of my friends and I have had our fill of watching tiger every time golf airs..There are hundreds of incredible golfers we rarely see them in action. I love golf, with a passion, but am not going to watch only one players game. I equate Tiger's antics to Chris Angel's mystery..How can he make eagle putts from 68 ft, birdie chip ins from missing fairways, approach in the rough, standing on one leg and flying it into the hole..there seems to be some kind of immortality going on..I want to see Bubba's, Cink's,and all the great new stars play golf..I couldn't help but notice when Tiger hit a great shot in the Open, he didn't show signs of pain, only when he hit less than average shots did he show his pain in the knee...Lets watch all the pros on the PGA tour..not just the chosen one...

Why don't you all give the guy a break! We all know he's No. 1 and he proves it time and again. He's good and you can't take that away from hom. As far as Retief Goosen's comments, maybe with Tiger not playing, he might have a chance to save par.
GET WELL SOON TIGER. CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR AND YOU CAN TELL THEM ALL WHERE TO GO.

Tiger Woods and Ryder Cup

"If you think you can, or if you think you can't... either way you're right."
Most professional golfers do not believe that they can beat Tiger Woods, and they are right. Tiger believes that he can beat anyone and he consistently does it.
Much of Tiger's lack of success in team competition can be attributed to his partners' poor play, ala Phil Mickleson.
I wonder, how many of you Tiger bashers have his level of success in your chosen fields of endeavor?

Earl, you are right on target with your assessment. And the answer to your question...none of these "bashers" have had a modicum of the type of success in their lives that Tiger has produced over the last 11 years. The problem for them, also is that Tiger does not fit the generalize profile of the modern day athlete. He's a fabulous father, husband, citizen, and a fantastic humanitarian. He's also intelligent, well educated, and outspoken. Many times negative bashers such as these, would rather try to tear him down than deal with him and his success. They just hate the fact that he doesn't fail, that he's gracious and complimentary of his fellow professionals, and therefore it makes them miserable. A word to you haters...misery does not need, or want, company. Please wallow in your own mess. PLEASE!!!

Rocco

Yep it'll be Rocco picked by Zinger, his buddy who knows that Rocco can play under the big spotlight and is now battle ready. He can hit the draw to his target over and over again; it's all he does and he does it well. I would love to see Rocco head to head with Europe's best!

Tiger vs Ryrer

by James McClendon
It seems some have forgotten the way Tiger grew up. His whole being from the very first teachings from Earl Woods was to be the best in the world.Nothing was ever said be on the best team. When did he have the same prviliages as most of the top tour players. I would think he is a self made man who is proving he will be the best ever. I applaud him for wanting to beat the world.I enjoy the Ryder Cup play but to tell you the truth not one of those guys would give anyone in my regular group the time of day.Everyone plays best when they have to count their own score to win. So my thinking is "go get'em" and kick their country club butts. If the Ryder Cup thinks they can do better without him I would look for another team captian.

I am not a fan of Tiger Woods albeit he is a great golfer. However, I believe there a others who could beat him on a regular basis if they didn,t fall for the unending HYPE. We all know golf is a mental game. Mr. Woods' presence gets ilnto the head of everyone else and they melt - Except Rocco.

Tiger Woods Ryder Cup record
June 24, 2008, 11:02 am |
by Robert Root
Tiger Woods, like Jack Nicklaus before him, does not think the Ryder Cup is that important versus winning majors. Golf deep down is one individual versus a golf course counting all strokes until the round is complete.
That is how most golf historians judge
greatness in the sport. The Ryder Cup is somewhat a bastardization and/or changeup from modern tournament golf.
The original concept was a friendly exhibition between GBI and the US. Clearly it has got out of hand with lengthy opening and closing ceremonies and huge crowds rooting on their teams thinking that this event determines which continent has the best golfers. In reality, this event does a very poor job of delivering on that concept (whatever it is worth).
