Reading an article on this site regarding an attitude demonstrated by Tiger is a little too abusive. If you had the talent and skills demonstrated by Tiger, time after time, would you not focus on winning? To whine because he is a phenom and above your golfing level is irrelevent - wake up and enjoy a time in sports when there is a true athelete. Look at Michael Jordon, Magic Johnson, and one of my favorites, Joe Montana. I ask the author of the article - have your been critical of those atheletes?

The questions the media ask the players post play are objectionable, sophomoric and often times demeaning. I think that the players do a remarkable job in restraining their real feelings to such provoking comments made by the media. The media takes the players comments out of context and uses them to create contoversy. To be subjected to such rubbish causes a "damnded if they do and damned if they don't" situation. All for the ratings! Give the public more credit for seeing through the painful post game gibberish. Let them be human. They are hot, exhausted, and hungry. Give them a break, it is not becoming to the sport of golf.

what do the following have in common ?
arnold palmer, gary player, tom watson,
lee trevino, raymond floyd, sevy ballastros, tom weiskoff, etc. that was part of the competition that jack nicklaus had to compete with. tiger woods has no one to compete with what jack had, please don't equate mickelson, singh and ells with the above.

Yes, many times it seems it is just a given, that Tiger will win another PGA Major, but when he isn't in the field, it is BORING. We either want him to WIN or want somebody to challenge him and make it more interesting. Just watching his actions on the golf course sets him apart He is in a ZONE somewhere by himself. I would never want to be his playing partner on a Sunday going into a tournament. He just seems to dismantle the competition with his PRESENCE. He can't be a TIGER if he is a smiling, easy going guy, so I guess we will have to accept him for who he is and for what he has done for the game. A tournament without Tiger in the hunt is usually boring.

You dislike for Tiger is obvious in your description of his PGA experience. Most often, those who say, "I'm not a big fan of Tiger's", complain that he doesn't smile, or express a preference for having others win. Most of those who issue those complaints or criticisms weren't old enough to remember the intensity of Jack Niclaus, or his rather dry, unrevealing interviews. I say, get a grip. Appreciate Tiger for his accomplishments. Not his p.r. Can anyone dispute that he is a good citizen? No scandalous afterhours behavior. He has been generous with donating his money for good causes. Who would dis a guy who opened his tournament to all military personnel, or a guy who spends tons of money promoting golf among the young. So, in spite of all that--he's demeaned because he appeared disinterested--even lethargic in the interview after his great round. shame, Tiger. You shold be smiling, dancing, singing, and bowing down to all of those media types trying to get a story.
You have missed the boat. 50 years from now, when history marks Tiger Woods as the greatest golfer to walk this earth, there will be a footnote to those detractors who downplayed his accomplishments because he didn't conform to their expectations as a person in front of the mike.

I was going to reply to Tim Mc donalds article on Tiger Woods, but then i read Ed's comments and i can not agree more with his comments. All i can say to Tim in addition give the Tiger a break, he lives in a glass bowl and the news media really ask,s some stupid questions. I wonder if they listen to what they say when it is on the T.V. news. I would also like to know what there I.Q. is. DUH

Who among the true sports fans would not want to see Secretariat run again, or Michael dominate the competition to win another NBA title, or Gretsky score another hundred or so goals or Lance Armstrong blitz another field of pretenders. Tiger is a phenomenon and we all should cheer every time he wins, just as we did these other great athletes, because we are witnessing something that only comes along once. Enjoy the moment, it won't come around again.
