CLIENT FEATURE
Gordon Adam who was born and bred in St. Andrews has a simple philosophy to life: "If you go the extra mile, you're sure to be rewarded with the extra dollar!" Gordon launched Drumgolf in 1997 to provide a refreshing new slant to specialist golf tour planning and has seen his business grow year on year ever since.
"I believe the majority of golf tour operators aspire to target the lucrative upscale market sector. We are no exception, however I feel that clients who are prepared to spend large sums of money to play top Championship courses and stay in the finest 5-star establishments are still seeking to differentiate their trip from the norm and that is where we have successfully provided the extra dimension."
Gordon has found that even the most senior of executives who are running large corporations back at home want to shed formality and meet the "natives." This is testified by a father-and-sons tour which he organized recently for a group from North Carolina.
"I incorporated a Scotland vs. USA alternative Ryder Cup into their itinerary. Like good hosts, the Scots emphatically lost all their matches but this was merely the prelude for a memorable prize dinner and splendid night of revelry. You know it has been a roaring success when you witness at midnight, eight North Carolinans attempting to teach the song 'Old Dixie' at the top of their voices to eight equally tone deaf Scotsmen!"
Drumgolf does not solely focus on groups.

"I find that many tailor-made operators are not interested in individual golfers who may be accompanied by their wife, as it is viewed that effort in planning surpasses the financial return," he said. "I, on the contrary, find planning such trips highly rewarding and as long as the client is flexible can source times on the most prestigious of courses."
Gordon is very proud of his small but very dedicated team of staff that are based at the office in St Andrews. Between us, "we possess a formidable knowledge of Scottish golf and are very passionate about our country." There is also the added advantage when contacting Drumgolf that you know that you are dealing directly with Scotland so are not incurring the cost of a U.S.-based middle man, this can save significant sums.
The company does not deal with high volumes simply as this would undermine the very personalized level of service that Drumgolf has consistently delivered. Fifty percent of all Drumgolf's business is generated by repeat customers or referrals from satisfied customers. This is an enviable statistic and one that demonstrates that small can be beautiful!
