4 seasons in 1 round!

A spectacular golf course which we played through a real mixed bag of weather from driving rain strong winds hail and then calm warm sunshine. Superb views and excellent greens I loved the challenge but for my playing partner there was just too many blind shots and driving in hope but to be fair we nearly always located our ball. For me it’s a little expensive in comparison to other golf available on the gower but you have to have at least one go on this unique course.

Great welcome by the staff in shop , we were the first visitors to sign in using the new system for entering your card after your round which was a success & a lot better than the old school card hand in , superb conditions after all the rain we have had , green were A1 also , challenging course but fun , confused on the 8th I believe to where we had to go , as a lot of T shots seem your hitting into the Wilderness but it’s not as bad as it looks when you go to look for your ball , only lost one ball and that was because it was a shocking shot by myself , missed fairway a number of times and hasd no trouble locating ball , one of best 18 holes I’ve played & enjoyed even with the windy conditions, will be visiting again .

Lovely course with great views

We played four local courses and this was our favourite. Some really good holes with great views from most. The greens were being treated when we played but still performed really well.

There are a couple of blind tee shots and we felt some fairway markers for driving line would have helped on these. Also a couple of greens are close to next tee boxes which was a bit worrying at times.

Staff were helpful and friendly and clubhouse has a fabulous balcony with stunning view of the course.

Overall loved it and definitely would go back.

Wales’ Sky Links indeed

Pennard is Wales’ version of Scotland’s quirky original links (Brora, North Berwick, etc). A links with elevation changes, wavy fairways, firm/Fast conditions, contoured green sites and wonderful routing. The views are also quite stunning (as is Wales for that matter)
There aren’t any animals running wild here anymore (for that go to Westward Ho) nor any of the conditioning problems which could arise from that. You just get an original links course with great golf. Some blindness if not in the correct position; however, you can get a day ticket. What course of any quality reveals all it’s secrets on one play?
They have all you want off the course; putting green, range, restaurants. And the members are quite welcoming. If you venture to Wales, this and Porthcawl are the must plays. Which you like more will demonstrate the type of golf you love unless you actually enjoy both types.
If I go back to Wales, this will be the first tee time made.

Crazytown

I've played this links twice, most recently during the 2010 Ryder Cup, and it's been a surreal experience both times. I'm not sure it's my favorite course ever but it's just a sensory overload, from the bouncy, rugged turf to the sky-top views to the livestock roaming the fairways. You'll get some unfair bounces. I certainly wouldn't play stroke play here, go match play. It's the antithesis of the medal links Porthcawl down the road. If you want memorable, I can't recommend this course enough.

Don't bother.

I cannot think that any serious golfer will be happy with the poor condition of the course, the cows - and mess - roaming around, the fenced-in greens, the tiresome accumulation of blind shots. All very well throwing around terms like "unique" and "natural" - there are limits. The greens were good, once you found them.

Friendly welcome

A very friendly welcome from the pro shop attendant, took time to explain everything about the course and its amenities to us. The course itself was in good condition however a few tees are very close to or tee over the greens resulting in a bit of waiting around which i imagine could cause a bit of congestion in busier times. Overall a good experience with great views and very friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend a visit if in the area.

Excellent day

Found all aspects of Pennard to be excellent. Weather for February was great - calm, sunny with course in great condition, particularly after coming from soggy parkland courses. Great variety of holes with a good deal of challenge even off yellows with greens surprisingly smooth for time of year. Views spectacular throughout. All staff - pro-shop and bar staff couldn't have been more helpful. Love these links courses and the variety of golf you need to play.
Thank you

Superb

Turned up as a 2 ball (from Wales)and were paired up with another 2 ball (from USA). We all enjoyed this fantastic course. Views to die for throughout the course. Course condition was fantastic. A challenging round of golf on a wonderful links course. It might be 200 ft above sea level (there's a lot of sand up there), but this is links golf at it's best. A busy course (it was Sunday afternoon) but on the positive side, this allowed us time to soak up the views as well as to try to plan the best strategy for the hole.

This course is a must play for any golfer who enjoys a challenge, likes links golf and appreciated georgeous views.
