Wonderful course, one of my favourites
I thoroughly enjoyed this course, it has it's challenges without being too much for your average golfer - really liked the layout of the course, but I would recommend a buggy as some holes are a bit of distance away from one another and a few uphill walks. Also disappointed at the buggy price, I don't see how it can cost so much when the round itself is enough! I feel £20 is more than enough for a buggy. £40 is way too much even to split between you.
That being said, the course was fantastic. In great condition even with it being so hot and dry the past couple weeks. Each hole had something different to think about how you should play it. I highly recommend this course to any golfer. I will be returning!
Overall very pleased
Course was in good condition considering the weather that we have been having. The lady in the pro shop was extremely helpful, polite and accommodating. The staff in the 19th were as expected with a hotel environment struggled to understand what you were trying to ask for, but got there in the end. The only bug bare that I would say was the greens resembled the moon with the amount of pitch marks that hadn’t been repaired. Was held up by 2 four balls that were in front so used the time to repair what we could on the way around.
Excellent course and environment
Had a great day here, lovely people and beautiful course
Good for time of year, shame I was behing a seniors 5ball...
Some great holes, especially the back 9. Played short as mid Feb, mats on most holes. Greens very very good.
Driving range is a decent walk from the shop and ball dispenser needs card from the shop which was annoying as not mentioned in the shop.
Good condition however!!
Course was in good condition considering the weather lately, however for the price we were not told that there were 6 or 7 temporary greens which was disappointing at the price of £35 a round. The signature holes which was one of the reasons we played here were all temps.
Gone down hill
Lovely course years back gone massively down hill since. Societies slowing play down. Slow greens. Unclear fairways. No Marshall’s. Tee boxes wrecked. Massive shame as this used to be a beautiful course.
Playing a bit of history.
Lovely layout and in decent condition for November.
Greens
Course played well.
Except the greens, a lot of pitch marks. I understand that it’s a players responsibility.
Possible the course is being used by to many that don’t have suffix ent golf etiquette. A few chips shots onto green, hit PM’s went in another direction.
Good course with a few stand out holes
Nice course with championship quality greens and a decent layout throughout. A few really nice holes with greens backing onto a lake and a brute of a final par 3 provides a dramatic end to a round. Off the yellows it’s wasn’t particularly difficult (though by no means easy) on the whole - and offered a good blend of holes with plenty of space to go with driver and those requiring accuracy over distance. Halfway house being open was a welcome treat.
I think the peak time 70/80 quid is steep for this course - there’s better options for that price. But at 50 it was reasonable value. Worth playing if you get the chance.
Stunner
Stunning course, great layout, beautiful scenery, killer of a finishing hole, played both courses and they're both well worth the visit.
A great course ..with nature everywhere!
The Old Course is in great condition; the mature trees and woodlands always seem to add a challenge!
The greens were fast and well manicured ..this was a walk ‘not ruined’ by the golf just my putting!!
Why did that squirrel block my shot to the 17th?
Will definitely return.
Stunning course
Simply a stunning golf course with a great layout and very good greens...
Top course in top condition
A beautiful setting helps this course shine even on a dull day. Holes that surprise and challenge but not unreasonably so even for a high handicapper such as me. Really enjoyed.
Very disappointed with the £50 charge.... was happy to pay initially... although the fairways were in a very poor condition.......
Completely over priced........
Would not recommend.........
