What a quirky little course
Played with my 7 year old son, as we were staying in a little cottage nearby in Beaumaris. I’d studied the course card beforehand and the length of the holes was perfect for my young (golf mad) son.
The staff in the pro shop were incredibly helpful and friendly and I was informed that the course had only just reopened having been closed for a few days prior, due to bad weather. This explained the condition on the practice green (very wet and long grass) which was replicated in some of the conditions on the greens on the course itself. There were a few holes on temporary greens and tees. But this is winter in the UK so being able to play at all is a bonus and didn’t detract from our fun.
The course layout was very quirky, especially the walk between the 2nd and 3rd hole where you walk through, I’m guessing, holiday accommodation and the 15th and 16th hole where you walk back up the par 3, 9th hole. That said, the layout is very well signposted to assist those who’ve not played here before.
The shortness of the course was protected by the natural lie of the land and indeed some of the climbs certainly made the heart pump. At the highest point there are some beautiful views over the Menai straights.
I imagine in the summer the course and the views are even more appealing.
We both enjoyed it immensely and would definitely recommend this course to those coming for a game of golf in this part of the world.
Post round we enjoyed a drink in the very modern club house bar and again the ladies serving were incredibly friendly.
One definitely for us to return to, when the weather gets better.
Late knock around, rocked up...
With a couple of hours daylight left we rocked up to here and after a chat with the gentleman in the shop, got the clubs on the back and headed out cold, managed to play 13 holes, a few big walks in between but what scenery...
Greens were lovely given how wet it had been, lots of slopes and testing putts as well as being pretty pacey too, some lovely holes especially 5, where you can take on the green from a slightly raised tee box, great par 3s and hole 7 offers a risk and reward too...
Damp underfoot but expected that given the biblical rain and the fact we were in Wales, would love to return....pro shop well stocked and gentleman most helpful, well done all, a testing course in most conditions....thank you

Outstanding course. Superb condition. Real test. One of the best I have played for a while. I simply want to return again. Also red squirrels are a bonus. Staff and fellow members all very friendly.
Thank you.
Great course
Loved the layout, challenging holes and greens. Enjoyed it. Very friendly staff.
Delightful
Course is in spectacular condition and it’s altogether a very pleasant experience.
Golf in the wind and rain
Weather wasn't good but the course was in really good condition. I really enjoyed it.
Nice layout; uphill, downhill and some long par 5s. Greens and fairways were great.
Two ball in front were really slow but all in all great fun and would recommend it to others and I'd be happy to come back to play.
Lovely course
Fast paced ball todays
Light wind poss cos of elevated position andproximaty to sea
Played here before happy to be here again in sunshine
Amazing
What a course! With mountains, the sea and roll hills as your back drop this course delivers. Great condition and some challenging holes this is a course you will love playing
Henllys
One of my favourite courses in north wales. Amazing view’s across Menai straits and the great orme, beautiful trees and plants and Forrest backdrops. Fantastic lay out you never feel as if your just going up and down all day long. Nice balance of water hazards and bunkers. Only thing I’d improve is the practice net and that’s just being fussy.
Enjoyable course
I played after a sustained period of rain and the course held up well. The greens were in very good condition. The course is a fair challenge and in the breaks in the weather provides stunning views of the Menai straights and the mountains beyond, Hilly in places but I carried and it was fine. Had a meal after in the friendly clubhouse. I’d recommend if you are in the area.
Well worth a visit - add to your shortlist
was staying in the area and came across this course, friendly pro shop and locals and the course was in great conditions, location was epic course and views of the area was awesome, course played really well relatively easy but with some challenging holes to add. most defiantly make a visit you wont be disappointed, hotel close by with rooms and balcony's on the course overlooking if required for stop over.
