Great

What a great course and all around experience. Starting with the warm welcome from Andy the club pro. The course is not the hardest links test, but the overall experience is great, some links courses beat you up so much they are not enjoyable for an average golfer, but Aberdovey is a good test without being way too hard.
I enjoyed all the par 3's, none of which were similar, the 12th however is a real gem, there is no way anyone could "fluke" a ball onto the green, it needs a very well judged proper golf shot, that takes into account wind direction distance and elevation, and once on the green there are np flat putts. (we played 2 days running and wind was in opposite directions each day, so I was happy to come off one under for both days)
16th is a really interesting short par 4, bigger hitters may go for the green, but a lay up is no easy option either, its a hard green to hit.
Off course facilities are really good food and accomodation is ideal for golfers.

A beautiful course with an incredible surrounding

Aberdyfi Golf Club is absolutely stunning, a tough links course with all the trails and tribulations You would expect. The greens are in great condition and the fairways and rough provide challenging contours punishment. I couldn’t recommend this golf course any higher

Loved it...

It was quite a haul to get there, with long-winding roads hardly wide enough for one car being considered a two-lane road.

After white-knuckling it behind the wheel for more than an hour from Harlech, Aberdovey was well worth the adventure.

First, it was crazy busy there. Booked solid. Still, pace of play was perfect.

The blend of holes was terrific as was the setting. Some elevation, a couple blind shots, great par 3s...it had a little bit of everything.

Truly enjoyed the afternoon.

One of Wales' finest

Giving this course five stars doesn’t mean I put it on par with some of the other courses I’ve reviewed that receive top billing, but Aberdovey is, without question, one of the crown jewels of Wales.

On the back end of a 36-hole day, this course was just awesome – and made even better by the fact that we played in 70-degree weather, sunshine and modest, swirling winds.

The quality of this track was evident right away, with the short, par-4 second that could have been played with five different clubs off the tee. (I chose 4-iron, which would up in the adjacent fairway). The par-3 third is completely blind, and the sixth, seventh and eighth are definite birdie opportunities (as I showed!), but the course really begins to show off starting at the 12th hole. The 150-yard par 3 is one of the most picturesque on the course, as players are forced to shoot straight up the hill, into a gusty wind, making club selection a total guess. A couple of holes then hug the dunes, leading to the par-4 16th, which is drivable at 280 yards but not recommended. The preferred play is to lay back to 125 yards and wedge it onto a thin, narrow green. It’s a terrific design, and one of the two holes (the par-3 12th being the other) that I’ll remember most.

Play this course if you can.
