If you get the chance do not pass the Beloit Club
The Country Club of Beloit is another very well done private course in southern Wisconsin. The club has a beautiful clubhouse and a dynamite putting and chipping green. The range only goes to about 200 yards but it seems like they ran out of space and that's why it's that short, no big deal. The course itself is in amazing shape. Fairways were awesome, greens ran so true, and the rough was there but was not too thick. Bunkers were really well shaped; they did an outstanding job with them.
The course plays pretty long as there are 4 par 4’s that are over 440 yards from the tips. The par 5s aren't too long but they require a good tee shot to get you in a prime position. The par 3s are a solid distance. I am a fan of the short iron par 3s but require you to hit a good shot or you get penalized and that is what the Beloit Club has.
Best hole on the front was the dog leg right par 8th par 5. It plays at 570 but it doesn't feel like it as you can cut the corner and it's pretty flat and I bet in the afternoon it gets firm and the ball will run up onto the green. If not accurate off the tee then you're in the trees, which is most holes as it's an old school private course.
Back nine I was a big fan of the par 4 18th. It has a great view of the clubhouse and has probably the biggest green on the course. There is a great bunkering in the fairway which requires a good shot to the uphill green. 4 is a good score.
The Beloit club was a treat to play. The course is old school back and forth style country club but what it lacks in layout it makes up with conditions. Great work Beloit Club.
