Poor pro shop customer service

I've been trying to contact the pro shop for tee time scheduling. 1st after hours and leaving a good contact number, and when they didn't return my call, I tried calling the pro shop during open hours. No one picks up the phone. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Terrible Experience

Slow playing group in front of us, they were first off the tee with 1 walker. Had to wait on them for every shot. Called the pro shop at the 5th hole because we hadn't seen a marshall yet. After 9th hole and still no marshal I went to the pro shop and made a fuss. 10 minutes later and the group was on the 10th green as we arrived at the 10th tee. Went back to the pro shop and was assured a marshal was on the way to speed them up or find a way to move us through. At that timeI was told by a gentleman in the pro shop, "Well they are on a 4:45 pace". I was also informed that the group ahead were members.
Went back to the 10th tee and found out the marshal came by and told my partners that we should be expecting slower play because it was muddy. Marshal came back through and told us he asked them to speed up. he also admitted they were playing slow.

I told him I was very disappointed because I had interacted with 3 of the staff and not one of them had apologized or made it appear they cared. He said, "Well I'm sorry that they didn't say I'm sorry. I'm just out here doing my job."

The group sped up but by the 13th we had caught them again and were waiting on them again by the 14th. We never saw a marshal again. They never bothered to check in with us again either. I guess you have to spend "members money" and then you can do whatever you please.

Terrible management of pace of play and horrific customer service for nearly $170. There's a reason this course only gets 3.5 stars on Golf Pass and Yelp..

SLOW GREENS SOGGY FAIRWAYS

TEE TIME 10:30AM BRIGHT SUNNY DAY ABOUT 75 DEGREES. NOTICED GOLF BALLS WEREN'T ROLLING OFF DRIVER HITS. SOME SPOTS OF THE FAIRWAY WAS OVER WATERED AND SOGGY. OK NO PROBLEM. BUT THE GREENS WERE ALSO OVER WATERED TOO. THIS GREEEN AT THE COAL CREEK HAD TO BE THE SLOWEST GREEN IN WASHINGTON INCLUDING ANY MUNI COURSES. MY HANDICAP IS 6 SO I MAY BE A BIT PICKY, SLOWEST GREEN NEVERTHELESS. AND THE SERVICE STAFF AT THE COURSE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN 50 DOLLARS COURSES. I WILL PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN SOON AND WILL UPDATE.

Started early and avoided the heat

Beautiful course with stunning views. With the oki platinum card it was only like a $65 round. I would pay $100 to play there but not whatever they normally charge. Lot of brown burnt out in the fairway which was expected with the heat we have had. Greens were furry but rolled true. Fun place and can't wait to play its interesting course in a week.

Stunning view of Seattle area on many holes.

We have a group of 20 players. We play Oki courses every year. By getting the Oki Platinum Players Card. You get to play 6 complimentary rounds cart included at Oki Golf courses. That comes to about $65 a round. Great value for the money. ($230 to play NewCastle Coal Creek alone on the weekends without the Platinum card.) The view from NewCastle Coal Creek is stunning. Bring your camera. This year I decided to create some short videos of Oki courses I played. Enjoy.

Poor conditions

OK I took a buddy to New Castle to play coal creek and at 220$ I was very disappointed no.1 thae carts and Rips in some of the carts. Get the 1st tee clumps for grass everywhere it looks Iike the tee mower guy don't care about his job or was not trained right for the job. None of the sprinklers around the greens of fairways look like crap. Wanted to do the putting course not be mowed in days what a bad experience. Looks like they need a superintendent that knows what to do. Rating 3 out 10 only reason you got a 3 is the greens are great.

Best Views of Seattle

I have played this course several times and the views are always amazing especially during twilight. The course has lots of elevation changes and is on a slope that overlooks Seattle, Lake Washington, South Sound and the Olympic Mountains. In my mind this is one of the most scenic courses you can play and the clubhouse looks like a 1400's castle on top of the hill. The course conditions are always good on this course but the greens were recently punched causing some of them to roll a little bumpy. It is one of the more expensive courses in the area but should be played at least once. I would recommend spending a little more money on Coal creek rather than China because every hole has a view whereas China is hidden in the backside of the hillside. The staff has always been very friendly and they have an award winning clubhouse. Do yourself a favor and catch the sunset from this amazing scenery.

Great course

The Golf Club at Newcastle is great. I have now played both China Creek and Coal Creek. The courses are very different. I loved playing both. The course is very well maintained. The starters on both courses do a great job informing first timers about the course you are about to play. We had humorous interactions with both men! The marshals did a great job making sure the pace of play was moving along well. I noticed it was the course pro who checked us in. As we were returning our cart he stopped us and asked how our round was. Top notch course and service! We will be back to play both courses.

Great Course and Views

Always in great shape, with fantastic views of Seattle and the ocean off in the distance. Course is challenging enough with undulations and some blind shots. On the pricier side for a round but their conditions, views, layout and friendly staff align with what you pay. Solid food and views at the 19th hole.

Newcastle + Oki Golf - Never disappointed!

Have booked Newcastle for a corporate outing every year and always appreciate the Oki Golf staff and the on-course people. A class act all the way. Accommodating to the nth degree. Thank you for another great year in 2019. Sorry we'll miss 2020 due to COVID but we'll be back next year!

Nice Course

Spectacular views abound. Fun yet challenging Par 5 dog legs with nice fairways. Par 3s are not designed to be 'a gimme' on this course - You will need to be in decent shape to walk it. Worth the money! Enjoy!

Some good, some meh

Top line: a great conditioned course with even better city views

Some of the holes on this course are great! Lot of 'shot making' with blind-ish shots and accuracy required. Some of the holes on this course are very basic, especially considering the $150+ price tag to play the course. Having said that, the staff is very friendly (plus free coffee!) and the conditions of the course are very good. The real show stopper of the course is the views of the greater Seattle area (you can see both Seattle and Belluve).

Bottom line: if you want to throw down on a round of golf, this is a good option.

Beautiful and challenging

The views of Seattle and surrounding mountains and waterways are nothing short of spectacular. The course is definitely challenging but fair. Accuracy is a must. There are some blind shots that add to the difficulty the first time you play Coal Creek. It was a plus for me that the par-3's were reachable for most female players. The changing elevations add to the beauty and challenge of the course. While worth the $200 plus greens fee/ cart fee, that does limit how often I will be playing here.

We Were Treated Like VIPs

This was the second leg of a three-day golf weekend among old Navy buddies, and I would say this was the best of the three (Echo Falls & Druid's Glen were the others). All the amenities and service of a private club made our day a special one. There is not ample room here to catalog everything. The palatial clubhouse and views of the entire Puget Sound are breathtaking. The menu and the patio dining were of the highest order (not as pricey as you would expect either). As for the golf, there are very few, if any, flat holes on the course, but the course is not unfair at all. Good shots are rewarded accordingly. Bad ones...! All in all, a first class experience at a first class operation. I understand the other 18 (China Creek) is the better course of the two here. If that's true, China Creek must be something because Coal Creek is a dandy.

Seattle scenery at its best on the Coal Creek course

It's hard not to be impressed by the Golf Club at Newcastle, even on the rainy day I played it in 2009. The clubhouse is a palace on a hill overlooking what feels like all of Seattle.
The hilly terrain creates a wild and scenic ride over 18 holes. But lost along the way are some elements of playability and fun.
Some of the holes feel shoe-horned in. You wonder if the club would have been better served with just 27 holes.
There aren't many flat lies, either, which can make for a long day for higher handicaps, which I was at the time.
I don't have an issue with the expensive waterfall features fronting greens, but some purists think they're too over-the-top obnoxious. If you're trying to impress a client or a buddy, this is the best high-end daily fee closest to Seattle.
