Needs water and work
This course is completely dried out. The traps are unplayable. There’s lots of water and with the fairways dry and hard, it’s almost impossible to keep the ball on some of them and out of the water. Greens were ok mostly. Cheap golf but not really worth it.
Poor course condition
The course condiion is very poor. I guess that's why the fee is reasonable.
Goat Pasture
What was once one of the best courses in the County has been majorly neglected. The fairways are like concrete and the greens are so dry they're cracking. I heard that the club manager is fighting with the HOA owners of the property. If this course has a greens keeper, he should find a new job. I've played over 100 golf course and this was in the bottom 5 regarding maintenance.
Not a serious course
The owner of this course isn't serious about running it. This place hasn't been watered in some time. The fairways, greens, and tee boxes are all dead, dusty, and hard as a rock. The bunkers have gravel and grass growing in them. They're unplayable. The greens have weeds, divots, the previous cup placements never grown back into the green. I've never played a course this bad. They can't serve drinks on the course cause the LCB revoked their license. This used to be a premier course. Whoever owns it is either lazy, a grifter, or bad at business.
Layout fantastic...unfortunately everything else has gone to unplayable...
Here’s hoping new ownership can revive the course conditions
The pro shop staff was great! Unfortunately this once great course to play has fallen to terrible condition. Several of the greens have large areas lost to fungus. In addition to weeds growing on several of the greens. All the sand traps throughout the 18 holes are overgrown with weeds with no sand to hit out of. I’ve heard the course has a new owner. My hope is this challenging layout can be revived to its former nice playing condition. Knowing this will take a lot of time & money. I vacation in Lynden every summer & stay @ the Homestead. Fingers crossed on this course with a good layout can be brought back to life???!
Nice layout but not in good condition
Sandtraps are unplayable as they are not being maintained. Some greens are diseased and have rough areas.,
Homestead Golf Course 2nd Time Around
Aftet losing 11 balls on day one, I only lost 3 today, 2 on the last hole. The course layout is amazing with strategically place traps and water hazards. A real challenge to play. Most unfortunate that greens and traps are in disrepair. When the new owner takes possession, I suspect most of these issues will be quickly resolved.
A Good Course Gone EXTREMELY Bad!
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! This is an example of a good course that has fallen into ruin. While the fairways were actually green, that was about all that was good about the course. Even the green fairways were rock hard and balls took weird bounces (I hit a bomb down the middle of a relatively flat fairway and the ball took a 90 degree kick into a mud hole of a hazard. The tee boxes were chewed up, the sand traps were overgrown with weeds and should have been classified as ground under repair, the greens had so many ball marks that it was impossible to miss them while putting, and that was on the green parts of the greens. For the most part, the greens were diseased, dry and cracked, hard as a rock, had poorly replaced holes (from previous locations...one was actually sunken about an inch below the green level), and there were mushrooms growing in places. The ground around the water hazards was so sloppy but you couldn't see it below the overgrown grass that you step at your own risk (I sunk un knee deep). I gave up after 7 holes and got a 9 hole raincheck. I asked if the course was going to be fixed anytime soon and was told probably not until someone else buys the course and puts the money into it to fix it. Again, DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! (Note: I have played this course at least 30 times in the last 5 years, so I know what it used to be like.)
Not recommended for play
Course is in terrible condition. Brown spots on all green. Barren fairways. Dried grass. Bunkers are full of weeds.
Five years ago this course was great, but now it is sad. If you check out their website, looks like big problems in 2021 as that is last update.
Not recommended.
Needs to work on the greens
I have played here since it opened. Like playing here but the greens are in very bad shape. Bunkers should be removed if they are not maintained. I am sure it is a finincial thing so i am very understanding and hope they can turn it around.
In poor shape
I have played this course for years. Great course. Today its in very bad shape. The tees are burnt and have very little grass, very lumpy. The greens are in very bad shape, lots of bare spots, weeds, and look burnt from chemicals or weather. They should have paid me to play this course in the shape it's in. The sand traps are full of grass and look like ground under repair but not marked as such. No sand in the sand traps. Also fairways very hard, looks like they are not watering. Course in very bad shape
very poor conditions
many tee boxes and greens were in extremely poor condition - dead, diseased, or dormant grass. Fairways were very hard and dry. All bunkers are overgrown and have zero sand in them. Fortunately I only paid $17 on a GolfNow hot deal.
The price we paid was very good but equal to the quality of the course. No sand in the traps, but lots weeds growing. Greens were very in poor shape. Most of the tee boxes were brown with very little grass.
Disappointing Day
Homestead is a potentially high end course.
However maintenance very poor
sand traps are not maintained, tees are not moved so little grass grows, the signage to the next tee is often missing and the lack of a starter leads to confusion to someone who has not played here.
Great Value
A little rough around the edges but a good test and really good value.
