maybe the best layout in the County

This is one of my favorite courses. The two distinct nines thing is well documented but as of yesterday the course was maybe in the best shape I've ever seen it. The one exception is the bunkers. They have imported new sand which would be OK except that there are some pretty big rocks in the mix...not pebbles...rocks! Check your lie before wrecking your brand new forged sand wedge.

Fun, mature, course with a variety of holes.

Great to come back to Sudden Valley, a course were I learned to play as a teenager. The opening nine appears benign as it plays through the valley. Gusting winds and firm greens provided much of the challenge during our recent round. A favorite hole is the par 4, number 5, a dogleg that plays out to Lake Whatcom - spectacular views. The second nine winds its way through the homes and the massive coniferous trees that stand on the western slope. Elevation changes and a variety of uphill and sidehill lies are a part of the challenge here.

The variety of holes and the variety of shots required make Sudden Valley a fun course to play.

Course was in great shape

There were very few wet spots even after the heavy rain in the area 6 days before.

Good twilight rate with cart

Fairways and greens were in good condition, but rough was very wet. We played in late May and they were still enforcing cart on path only which really slowed down play. Front nine plays like a typical resort-type course while the back offers a challenging nine holes with a lot of elevation changes and tighter fairways.

excellent 2 distinct nines

Sudden valley has 2 very distinct nines.. the first is nine is flat with creeks, ponds, lakes and doglegs.. the second nine is hilly, tight, tree lined , water.. greens were excellent, fairways nicely outlined, usual deer sightings on back nine, no 2 holes alike.. worth the drive and deal with cart on golfnow was excellent.. will be playing again
