The River Course is one of three championship courses offered by Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg. All designed by well known names, the golf courses provide a challenging round that plays across a scenic landscape of rolling hills and hardwood forests. The River Course is named so since it runs along the shores of the James River. The layout is a Pete Dye design. Although Dye stayed true to the already challenging natural terrain, he added strategically placed bunkers along the greensides that present a formidable test on many holes. Accuracy is a necessity throughout the entire golf course. The par-3 17th is Kingsmill's signature. This demanding hole features a cavernously deep green that puts a priority on the correct club selection. There is danger along the right but there is a safety zone just short and to the left of the green.
