Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg boasts three different championship golf courses: the River, Plantation, and Woods. The courses sprawl across rolling hills covered with hardwood forests that tumble along the shores of the James River. The Plantation Course as a collaboration between Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. Landmarks from Richard Kingsmill's 1736 plantation were incorporated throughout the golf course. The layout plays through dense woods and deep ravines, requiring accurate iron play and good putting. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there are strategically placed bunkers throughout. The rolling terrain also provides undulations and swales that can prove to be quite tricky. Although it is a challenging test, the layout has generous landing areas and large greens that provide inviting target for approach shots to make the course more accessible for a range of skill levels.
