CLOSED
This course has closed. It closed on May 22, 2016. The driving range is also closed.
Dissapointed
This course has not seen any maintenance in a long time. the greens were extremely rough and diseased. The bunkers are now nothing but weeds and crabgrass. The overall condition was unacceptable. I would hope that Golf Now will look into and remove this course from the sight. I rely on Golf Now when traveling for reputable courses, this is not one.
needs a lot of TLC
A huge disappointment. The care given to this course can be compared to one that has been closed for a long time.
Terrible
The greens were terrible. Weeds and bare dirt on all greens. Cart had no brakes. All traps were full of weeds. Course has a lot of potential, but no upkeep.
The course needs new greens
Greens were in horrible condition lots of crab grass and bare spots. The ball jumped all over the place when you were putting. Bunkers no longer had sand but had weeds growing in them.
waste of money
Horrible course. The grass at my house is better than at this course. Staff informed us that with the current condition of the greens, if we made our shot within 10 feet of the pin, it was in.
Horrible Greens.
This course would be really great, it has a nice layout, great pace of play, but the greens were the worst thing I've ever seen. It was mainly dirt with weeds and patches of rough grass all over. It was just terrible.
Awful
The grass in your backyard is better quality than the greens on this course. Worst greens I've ever played in my entire life. Fairways were awful. Course layout would be great but there is no upkeep.
Owls Creek Golf Course
The greens were absolutely terrible. They were nothing but dirt and weeds, which made it next to impossible to get a true roll on your putts. It is a cheaper course and a great place to practice your irons so if you're not worried about your score and want to get in some on course practice it's worth the few buck to play.
run down
Course is run down, greens are half dead, full of weeds, the bunkers are all overgrown.
How is this course still alive?
This was my second visit to this course, the first being over a year prior. I choose this course to play because I was bringing my 12 year old daughter to play her first executive course. How this course is still alive is something to ponder. The gas golf cart would only start after several pedal presses... sometimes after dozens of attempts. Fairways are probably the best attribute for the course. The greens... are not green. They've been toast for years. Not a single green can hold a line. We gave up trying to putt any any of them. Ball washers are present with no towels... some were destroyed. One bunker had a rake in it... and the weeds had grown around the rake. We saw only 3 other groups playing during our round.
In Summary, if you are a hack just looking to kill time and play some wedge range par 3s and have no interest in working on your putting game, this is a steal for you.
Terrible Shape
Owls Creek Greens are in the worst shape of any greens I have ever played on. I am NOT embellishing! Numerous "greens" had a lot of Black Dirt and weeds. It almost looks like nobody really cares...It is sad because I remember when the place was respectable. It is pretty obvious when you get there at Noon on a Sunday and there are 6 cars in the Parking Lot. The other reason I played there was because my 13 yr old is new at the game. If you are looking for a "short" course...go to Lamberts Point in Norfolk.
Oh...the Bunkers had NO SAND just overgrown grass.
The course needs work.
The putting greens are not very good at all and needs a lot of work. It is a challenging course and could be a great course is maintained correctly. You can't complain about it too much because the price is right.
Nice Course Poorly MMaintained
Although this is a very short course, under 4,000 yds (par 60) it is a challenging course with narrow fairways lot's of water hazards which require accurate approach and tee shots and par 3's that require accurate iron shots. The condition of the course was however terrible, tee boxes and fairways were overgrown, the greens were terrible some had very little grass and others were just dirt pock marked with grass. This could be a wonderful course as is or as a par 3 course but it needs to be better maintained...putting was virtually impossible.
Bad condition
This course needs TLC.. The greens are terrible. lots of dirt with no grass. Lumpy.. some flags were torn. The Bunkers were all grown up with grass. not taken care of at all. There were several branches that hit the top of our cart that needed trimmed..Not worth the 25 per person we paid. we could go to other courses for the same price and they are in way better condition. we went here a few times in the spring and the course was bad. we thought they would take better care of it once the weather warmed up. I guess they put no money into it, just there pockets. we probably wont go back unless we hear that they have decided to start maintaining it..
Played this course last year
Played this course last year and it was in decent shape. Good course to practice short game.
This year, a totally different story. Place just seemed very run down and not maintained at all, greens terrible, bunkers awful.
It's a shame, because it has so much potential.
Owls Creek (not recommended)
Unless all you have is $10 & are desperate to play a round of golf I would not recommend playing here. Besides the maybe once in awhile fairway cutting this course looks like it hasnt been maintained in years. Tee boxes are littered with debri, greens might as well be considered part of the rough with weeds growing on them. For the most part I was pretty upset off I paid to even play there.
recommend taking it off your listing
Worst shape of any course I have played in the last 30 years... concrete riding path in such broken and bad she, unsafe to drive on. Cart I got had no lock break...needed to sit on level area so not roll away.
If I were you, I would worry about the liability for GolfNow.
You get what you pay for
Carts wouldn't run. Had to drive back and get a new one after the first hole. Both carts we had the parking brake did not work so we had to park in a hole or on a flat spot to keep from rolling away.
The course was not taken care of at all. Most of the greens were 90% dirt and sand traps were just holes with weeds growing from them. No sand to be found.
The only good available was a chicken salad sandwich and a cheese sandwich
I paid for 18 holes but quit after 9. I don't recommend this course
