Plantation Course Greens Not Playable
These courses shouldn't be at the $69,95 + fees. We played the back nines at the Plantation course. Almost half of the greens are not playable due to the bad grass conditions. This course should be closed and reconditioned. I guess it would be silly to ask for a refund after we complete the game. For sure we are not playing here anymore!
Poor Shape
As a semi-private club, you don’t have access to most amenities. As for the course, the greens were as bad as any I’ve ever played. Several have been completely lost, but they are still playing them. Staff was friendly, pace was good, nice course, but greens would keep me from recommending.
Another one bites the dust…
I was close to becoming a member here, not anytime soon. Early April in Houston should be almost peak time for course conditions. Not here. Tee boxes were like rocks. Fairways were decent but hard, yardage was marked, sprinkler heads were in tact with yardage. But the greens… more sand than grass, really some of the worst greens I’ve seen in a long time. Hopefully the new owners revive this place. Staff was great!! 2.75 stars…
Bad greens
We had to give relief on greens that’s how bad they were
Not justified for a green fee. Pricey.
No maintenance golf course. Expensive green fee, hard tee box, hard fairways, thin bunker sands, lots of weeds on the putting green from 1- 18 holes. Terrible course. Green fees is so expensive with the course conditions.either Am or Pm or after hours.
Tough shape
First and last visit their. Course seems very neglected.
I don't know why area is nice. But like others the fairways are fair, but the boxes and greens are rough and unmanaged. Nice clubhouse and staff but not sure how cheap it qould have to be to go back as 60 was way to much.
Poor greens
Considering the current conditions of the greens, it will be a long time before they are in halfway decent condition. Fairways are hard and tee boxes are not on good shape either
Great course, great staff!
This was a great course. It was my first time playing. The staff was very helpful in helping me to understand the course layout. They have three different courses: 1) Pecan, 2) Grove, and 3) Plantation. They have a really nice locker room for changing, showers, and a bar. There was unlimited balls for the driving range with the round of 18-holes.
The course conditions were good. There were a couple of mud spots and rough terrain but nothing too bad. Overall, this is a great course with a feel of an “exclusive” environment (in a good way).
Gone Down Hill
I've played this course for going on 10 years but this was the absolute worst experience I've had here. Not only did we have to push for our cart to even start going (yes, you read that right, sort of like Fred Flinstone with our feet to get the engine to start), but we also had the grounds crew literally mowing the fringes WHILE WE WERE PUTTING. We were behind another group who was moving at a decent pace, but still had the grounds crew following behind us for every single shot we had. Then they wouldn't even wait until we finished putting before they drove up to the green and started mowing. It was crazy.
Very poor grounds keeping
The green are in horrible shape, I'd hate to be a member with such bad greens keeping
Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition. However, greens we in bad shape.
WORST GREENS IVE EVER SEEN
I don’t know how they call this place a country club. Greens are like an old dog park.
Not a great course
The greens are 90 percent dead on one of the nine holes we played. Fairways are very bumpy. Made my back sore driving over the moguls!
Needs a rehab
I've played here many times over the years, and each time the conditions have gotten worse and worse. 6 total greens were mostly dirst with holes in them. Most of the fairways seem to be crumbling. And all of the tee boxes were weeds and extremely uneven. The first time I played Pecan Grove, it was immaculate. One of the best I had ever played. But it was also still private at that time. That was 10 years ago. It seems they have stopped caring. For 75 dollars I can play at other courses in the area, have better course conditions, and feed myself. I hope they improve. It really is a great course. Just a shame they have let it go.
Bad green conditions
For this course to cost as much as it does I would expect better conditions. Most of the greens have weeds/sand/dead grass throughout making putting nearly impossible. One of the worst values for the money in the Houston area.
Course Needs work
Hadn't played this course in over a year. It was in better shape. The front 9 on Pecan course was nit great but ok
the greens were dry, cracked and just not good. Balls were bouncing like a basketball court on the fairways The back 9 was terrible. It was like playing in a dried out cow pasture. Which is surprising since the fron 9 didnr look like that. The ground was rock hard, and full of holes and bumps. I almost twisted an ankle walking in the fairway.
Tee boxes full of crabgrass and clover. The fairways weren't much better. I get that they need rain because all of the ponds were low, but they need better watering and maintenance overall.
