Fun Course

Fun course for all skill levels. Starts out with a short, straight par 4. Reachable if you can drive 320+. The 2nd hole is a par 5. Large tree along the left side could keep you from going for the green in 2. #3 is a short par 3. 4th hole is another par 4 that can be reached in 1 if you can drive 280+ and straight. Another par 4 then another par 3 over water. 7th hole plays about 375, but you gotta keep it straight or left to avoid the trees. 8th is a slight dogleg left, slightly uphill par 5. Another par 3 with an oil pump left if you hook it and water comes into play if you go pin high and left.

Back nine starts with another simple par 3. 11th is a dogleg right par 4 that may require a hybrid or 3 wood, otherwise a driver will put you in the trees along the left side. 12th is a par 5 that lets you bomb away, but be careful for the houses and trees along the right side. It turns to the right about 360. 13 is a par 5 that is somtimes has water short. It depends on where they place the tee box. It's a blind tee shot up over a hill, but a straight hole. 14 is another reachable par 4 with a blind tee shot down the same hill you just came up. Stay right to reach the green from the tee if you get it 300+. A straight par 4 at 15 then another par 3 at 16. Neither are very complicated, just require accurate shots. You can benefit from a slight downhill on 17 with a good, straight drive. The hole plays about 365 with a front hole location. The course finishes with a long par 3. My GPS tracker shows it between 190-200 yds.

Overall, Longview Country Club is a fun course. The carts are battery powered and are in pretty good shape. Mostly grass or old pavement for cart paths. Not too complicated for beginners, challenging for the intermediate player looking to cut strokes off the score and probably plays short for the seasoned veteran who can hit it fairly long and straight. The fairways are usually in pretty good shape and I never notice any major problems on the green, except for maybe some sogginess after a few days of rain. My only complaint would be common to any other public course, and that is slow play from all levels that play there. I've been behind a group wearing jorts and football jerseys hitting 2 or 3 tee shots each just to have a ball that's able to be found.
