Horseshoe Bay Resort has been acclaimed as one of the best golf resorts in the country thanks to its three championship courses designed by Robert Trent Jones and the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that was added in 2011. Opened in 1986, the Apple Rock Course was the third Robert Trent Jones course at the resort. It spans 147 acres of rolling Texas Hills Country along the shores of Lake LBJ. The course is considered one of the state's most scenic. It is not an overly tight golf course but the rocky, mountainous terrain provides elevation changes that require proper club selection and well placed drives. There are also more than 50 bunkers surrounding the elevated greens. The 10th and 11th holes, back-to-back par 5s, will take you from one of the highest points at Cap Rock back down to the lakefront in just a few strokes.
