Colonial Country Club - Private

Description

Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth, one of the most prestigious golf courses in Texas, was established in 1936 by Marvin Leonard. Dating back to the days of Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson, Colonial remains a true shot-maker's golf course, requiring players to shape the ball off the tee. It plays just a par 70, but demands precision. The golf course hosted the U.S. Open in 1941 and the 1991 U.S. Women's Open. A private club, John Bredemus and Perry Maxwell assisted with the original design. Colonial was the first golf course in Texas with bentgrass greens.
