One of five municipal courses in Austin, Morris Williams Golf Course is located on the city's east side near the old airport. The course opened in 1964 and was named after the legendary local golfer who died in a jet plane crash during the Korean War. The course is arguably the toughest among the city courses, playing over 6,600 yards and features many water hazards and elevated greens. Walking is allowed at all times and there is a driving range and practice green onsite.
