Great suprise after reading some mixed reviews.
We played Gatlinburg Golf Course the day before and were not impressed so we decided to play here. We had read mixed reviews so were skeptical from the moment we arrived we knew our fears were far behind us. The staff was friendly and courteous. We hit some balls at the range and it was in great condition. We played the highlands side and other than being a bit waterlogged it was a great time. Would definitely play there again in the future. Thank you to Sevierville GC.
Highlight of the weekend
I am from St. Louis and was in Pigeon Forge for a wedding. Myself and a friend decided going down to the wedding we would try and play a round of golf before making the long drive back. That morning I got on Golfnow.com and selected this course because of the good ratings, it was on our way out of town and a very reasonable price. The staff was extremely helpful especially since we had never been there before. We elected to play the Highlands which was plenty challenging for our skill level. The course was in great shape, fairways immaculate and the bunkers were perfect with fine white sand. Unfortunately the greens had been aerated that week but its that time of year and missed putts could easily be blamed on the sand, not our skill level, lol. Going home our discussion of the course always came back to how spread out the course was and how creative a lot of the holes were. A very unique course well laid out and a lot of fun to play. Many holes demand well placed shots to have a good angle at the green. Some of them you could figure out before hitting a shot but others left us knowing where we would need to place a shot if we played the course again. All in all, we felt the overall experience was
amazing and definitely glad that we chose this golf course to play. Thanks for an amazing experience.
unexpected delight.
Great staff, very friendly! Course has two 18's (river/high lands) and five tee boxes to choose from, black (championship), blue
(professional), green(novice), white(senior/ameture) and red(ladies/junior). I played the blues, on the Highlands course. It is a huge course for being a par 70. But challenging enough for golfers with a handicap of 6 to 12. The course plays pretty straight forward, with a lot of sloping fairways and greens of which were being a airrated at the time. Can't knock the course for that because they warned golfers who wanted to play this course that they were. The rest of the course was well maintained. There are facilities
(bathrooms) at 10. The food/beverage cart was seen 4 times throughout my 18 holes, although I didn't stop her. Overall experience was among my top fifteen course I have played and I have golfed all over the world and the United States. I would recommend this course to anyone in the area. Plus you can stay at the wilderness hotel that partners it.
Punched Greens
We need a way to know when we book if the greens have been punched. Although we had a great time playing. We basically did not have much fun trying to putt. I was surprised the course did not offer us the opportunity to play the River Course which is also at the same facility and did not have punched greens. It was like "you booked through Golf Now this is the course you are going to play"
Play you'll like it
Great course quick greens ,well kept fairways ,looking forward to playing again
A great day in spite of my ability
Course was in very good shape. 2nd time playing. Staff were very friendly both times I played. Usually play from 5700 -6000 yds but this course requires planning. If you are a 10-15 hdcp play from the green tees, ~5200, it will be a fun day with plenty of challenges. Only thing I would recommend is putting more detail in the yardage book it's not much more the a picture of the hole.
This course packs a wallop!!
This course by yardage seems short, but kicks your butt over and over. What a challenge! We really liked playing here but you've got to bring your A game. I'm a little masochistic so I played it from the Blues. I was driving the ball pretty good this day but around the greens I just racked up the strokes, still enjoyed it immensely. Hope to play again when we return to the area.
Amazing course & staff are top notch
From the time we arrived, the staff was more than accommodating and friendly. We played 18 initially on the highland course and took in the breathtaking views . Afterwards we decided to stop in the club house to grab a bite. The food was great and staff was even better. We decided to replay the river course. We lost a ton of balls but still had a great time.
Connor's Papaw
Excellent course: Fairways and greens were both
in great shape, and I got to play with my son and
grandson. All personnel I talked with were very
courteous, and very helpful, and I will go back.

Interesting flat land & hills
Got rained out but really enjoyed the part of the course we did see. Nice practice facilities also.
Highland course not marked well
Some of the tee boxes were hard to find. Also We found that the yardage of some of the par 3 tee boxes were not accurate. This was the first time we played it and there was not map of course lay out or instructions were to play your ball. And because of a lot of blind landing spots, apparent good shots ended up being in trouble. Also on the back nine there were four flags(2 red, 2 white) that were placed wrong, back hole locations, instead of where they were suppose to be.
The staff was very friendly and the course was in good shape.
Sevierville Highlands-terrific
What a welcomed change of course design and style as compared to the River Course. Overall excellent condition, terrific greens, fast but fair, more traditional, resort design. Fair amount of water to be taken into account. Nice mix of risk/reward holes. 10 and 11 are ho-hum holes. used to be a 5par, 11 green being the original green. Overall, great course, value, layout. One of the best in East Tennessee.
Perfect weather on a challenging course
We are tourists that come to this area every year, but the first time to play this course. At first, when I saw that the highland course is only 6000 yards, and had 5 par 5s, and was only par 70, I thought that the course would be tricked up, but it wasn't.
Most of the holes are fairly tight, and water or woods come into play on nearly every shot, but none felt unfair. The greens roll as fast as you could ever want, and have slight undulations that are only known by locals. Several putts broke away from the water, that was right next to the green, which seemed unusual.
We were paired up with a couple that were members there, and were very fun to play with. They really helped on a few holes with reading greens, and pointing out unseen trouble...which is around nearly every dogleg.
Even though this course is only 6000 yards, It is fun and challenging. Practice up on long irons/hybrids, because you could hit them off nearly every tee.
A good, fun course
A good course that plays as challenging as you want it to be. Plays longer than the posted yardage, so don't just go to the tips thinking the "short" course is a pushover.
Great Golf
This was a wonderful golf experience. The fairways and greens were superb. The lay out is challenging but a great test of ball striking. Would love to play it again now that I know where the hidden hazards are. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Whenever I'm in the area this will be a must play course.
Great conditions and well Maintained
A group of nine played Highlands mid day on a Wednesday. Everyone liked how well maintained the course was and had a great time. We thought it would have been nice to have a hole marker at each tee box to show a larger picture than the scorecard. The layout on the scorecard is too small to read with out glasses.
Great course
Both seviervile GC courses are excellent. The staff can be somewhat snippy, but I guess I would be to if I had to deal with tourists all the time. Also, since this course is always full of out of towners (nothing wrong with that) and it is a fairly tough course, pace of play is usually pretty bad. Overall, I drive almost an hour once a month to play out there. The courses are always in great shape (for the season). Do yourself a favor and go on a day when you have time to play 36 and play both courses.
Wonderful experience
I rated this course only average value for the money, simply because I think its a little pricey if youre paying the regular rate. However, you can get many good teetimes on golfnow.com, and for those prices, id rate it a good value for the money. We got an extremely good rate, on a hotdeal, so for us it was excellent. Just wanted to clarify the reasons behind the rating.
As far as the course, we played the Highlands course, which on the scorecard seems like a gimmicky/mickey mouse course, as it is extremely short, even from the tips. But we were told by the staff there, (very friendly by the way, the outdoor staff anyway, starter, attendants loading bags, etc.) not to let the yardage fool you. My initial reaction was they were just trying to talk their course up. They were very sincere, we found out. And as you played it, you werent thinking, this is a short hole, or this is all this hole is?? Its very deceiving, and its a shotmakers course. Greens were in good shape, and they were fair, (meaning, the playibility of them, you had to putt well on them, but they werent so difficult that they would ruin your day).
It was a fun course to play, but you had to play it well, regardless of the length of it. My two biggest reccomendations would be, spring for a course book, if youre not playing with someone very familiar with the course (so many doglegs and holes that required placement in a landing area, not knowing the course, made that really difficult, even with a gps). And book teetime somewhere like golfnow where you can get a more affordable rate.
Slow play
The course was ok ,but the pace of play was horrible.Playing as a single I play fairly fast, but the lack of a ranger to speed up play was a joke.
