Reviews
This course has great layout. Old schoogfcoursel
Wonderful staff and challenging course. Definitely will comeback. Would recommend to any one. Everyone welcome no matter what skill level
The Course was ok.
I heard from locals in Cookeville that this course was called Ironweed. I looked at the reviews for this course and saw people saying this is the best it has looked in years, so me and some friends thought to give it a try. It was not really worth the money for the 9 holes we played. The best part about the course were the greens. The tee boxes were compact mud and almost impossible to get a tee in the ground. The fairways were very rough looked like crabgrass. Overall, I most likely not be coming back to this course.
Great Value
Got to play 18 holes and get a bucket of range balls for $14. Great value. Course is looking the best it has in a few years.
Was not allowed to play
We booked this tee time and when we showed up they informed us they were having a tournament and we were not allowed to play.
Great country course, a must play...
I enjoy a good practice area and this facility has a great one, probably because it is the home course of the Tennessee Tech golf team. Several holes had doglegs requiring a fade or draw that if executed properly over or around trees sets up for wedges into some of the par 4s... 9 and 18 greens are carved into the hillside and elevated some 30 or 40 feet requiring a very high and challenging approach with
accuracy to avoid rolling back short or off to the sides and back down into
deep clover rough. I enjoyed the
experience so much instead of driving
30 miles to play a resort course I drove
the 8 miles from the hotel in Cookeville
and went back to Ironwood for another
fun round today.

As of June 15, 2014 the course was in excellent shape and well worth the money for 18 & a cart.
Great design
For the average golfer the design is very good . The conditions of the fairways leave a lot to be desired . I think it is very scenic and the staff is great .
Course could use grooming but Great for a novice
I thoroughly enjoyed playing 9 holes on this course despite its condition. Greens were good however tee boxes and fairways need care. I haven't played in 10 years so I consider myself a novice. My playing partner and I arrived an hour early for our tee time and were able to start play immediately. We virtually had the course to ourselves. When we finished the parking lot indicated there were quite a few more golfers who opted for LATE morning tee times.
This is a fairly hilly course.
