The Golf Club of Bristol
About
The Golf Club of Bristol was founded in 1894, making it one of the longest running clubs in the country. It's also considered the birthplace of organized golf in Tennessee and is still recognized as one of the best courses in the state. The current address is the fourth physical location of the club. The course that stands today was the created by A.G. McKay, a Tennessee native. The layout is challenging but fair with long, narrow fairways and fast, undulating greens. With several risk-reward holes throughout, it's a golf course that will make you think. The par-4 ninth, one of the tougher holes, is a dogleg left that plays uphill and over water. Besides the excellent game it offers, The Golf Club of Bristol is known for having some of the most well manicured fairways and greens in the area.

Spectacular Golf Course!
The staff was incredibly welcoming, the greens were immaculate and the course was challenging & fun to play. We will definitely play again when we visit Bristol. My
Fun Course in Great Shape
Fun course with a variety of holes. Flows really well.
Rfeagins, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing The Golf Club of Bristol.
Country Club of Bristol
First time at course, Bad experience, were holding a college tournament. When they let us tee off, got to the 1st green, 4 groups standing on 2nd tee. Took 3 hours to play 9 holes, so only got to play 9 holes.
A Tale of Two Courses
This course in TN advertises itself as the oldest golf club in TN, founded in 1894. It was actually a tale of two golf courses for us.
First, the course itself. Incredibly well maintained, great from every tee box straight through the greens. A couple bunkers had a rough edge or two, but overall, it was remarkable. The terrain, the layout the whole works. The Superintendent there KNOWS what he is doing!
But then, the rest of the story. The "amenities" of the course were virtually non-existent! A bare-bones pro shop, no snack bar at all on Monday and Tuesday (closest food about two miles away), some rough carts, no signage, no ball washers on any hole, no toilets -- nothing! Man in pro shop said they had been through 12 pros in 12 years. No question about it.
I would tell anyone "Come play this course. At $40-ish a round it is more than worth it, but be prepared for a truly minimalist experience when it comes to the "extras."
Best in Area
I’m actually a little upset we didn’t find this course until today...what a fantastic round. It was immaculate, best fairways hands down in 100 mile radius of public courses. Greens were true and smooth with the tee boxes the best we’ve seen. The hubs and I can’t wait to go back - only recommendation would be a ranger on duty for busy days. We had a situation where a couple of younger players skipped some holes and shot in front of us. But overall, you could not ask for a better overall experience!
The course is a fair course for beginners with some challenges.
Played this course while travelling through the area. The fairways were wide. The length was good with elevation changes that added to it. The conditions were good at tee and greens. Harzards and traps protected some greens.
Great course
This is the best course I have played in the Tri-cities area...great grass conditions and really fast greens. Actually it plays a bit harder than my abilities but was quite enjoyable
Nice layout, could be memorable.
Not in great shape. Very unfriendly pro shop and restaurant staff. Lacking leadership. Could be memorable. Evidently this was the last day of public play, going private Nov 1. Very evident they did not want outsiders to be there. Super slow foursome in front of us all day who had no desire to let a twosome play through. Three open holes ahead of them.
What can I say! Singing praises
This was without a doubt one of the nicest courses I have ever booked on Golfnow. We were warmly greeting in the pro shop as soon as we arrived and were given a verbal course tour that was both entertaining and informative. The course was manicured to perfection, the greens rolled well and were receptive to shots despite being aerated 18 days ago. This course was very well laid out with great use of the rolling terrain. The par 3s are long yardagewise but most play downhill so they play a little shorter than the distance on the card. Everything about this course was near perfect. If I lived in the area, this would be high on my list for membership.
Course is I. Immaculate condition. It is a fair test of golf and has plenty of challenges for every level player. It is a course one could play every day and not tire of it.
Tough putting
Course is in excellent condition. Greens are fast and true. Cart paths need work in places. Enjoy your round!
Exceeds expectations
Golf course condition is as good or better than any other area course. Aerification holes have healed and greens are excellent. Appears tournament ready to me. Course is now semi-private and membership fees are very competitive. Fourth trip back to this course in the past two years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended.
Great course, very slow play
Tee time at 2:39 on a Saturday. Expected it to be busy since it was such a nice day, but the pace of play was horrendous. A five hour round of golf is crazy for a course that was under 5,900 yds from the white tees. My friend and I were paired up with a very nice Father and son who had played the course before and local knowledge did help a bit. Course was in very good condition considering all the grass isn't fully in yet. Greens are very undulated and fast which made them difficult but fun. I would say in another month the course will be in fantastic condition. Would definitely play there again but if it's another 5 hour round it would probably be my last trip up there.
Nice course
The course was in good shape considering that the day before rained all day. Temp was only in the 40's too. Would love to play this course again when warmer. Staff was very nice and accommodating.
Course in great shape for winter season
Our foursome had a great time. Great facility for the price. Will be back!
Can u play this without being a member if booked thorough golf now
