Overload of blind tee shots and patchy greens.
Course is what seems like under repair however no one is visible working on it. Greens are fast but patchy with almost two types of grass leading to far less than true puts. Atleast 6 tee shots are blind into hidden doglegs with no diagrams or pictures of holes. Course lacks a ranger and even at 2pm on a Tuesday pace was way beyond slow (6hr) round. Overall would rate this course as poor to fair and won’t play again.
First time golfing this course
Arrived 25 minutes before tee time, quick check in with prepay on Golfnow, began play prior to tee time, cart ran well all 18 holes, fairways were hard and ball ran fast, greens were well maintained, steady play. My only complaint is the golf cart path is in need of repair. Rough ride the entire outing. Other than that I enjoyed my day on the course.
Hidden Gem
Beautiful course in Rock Hill next to the catawba. Has some challenging holes that require good shots. I play here quite often since its a good course that is taken care of and that doesnt overcharge its golfers. Pace of play is usually pretty good but like most courses you get stuck behind the guys taking their sweet time now and again. If you play in the summer BRING MOSQUITO SPRAY! Most people that play here seem to be very friendly and just looking to enjoy the round. All in all, great course, great people, and taken care of. Take a shot and play it if you havent yet!
Not Worth It
This course is not worth it, as there are much much better courses in the area. The place is pretty much a dump, with a run down club house. Staff is extremely unfriendly, no starter on the first tee. Overall condition of the course was poor, looks like there was really no one keeping it up. Even with the Hot Deal this course isn't worth it.
Great Course Gone Bad!
This used to be one of the best courses around. Now their are no golf rangers to encoirage faster pace of play. There too many 2 somes not paired up. Slow players jumping in front of faster players and not letting them play through. The quality of the course was poor at best. There was no distinction between the rough and the fairways. The fairways were dry. No proper sprinkling or erragation system. Especially considering this course is right next to a river. The staff in the cub house looked very uninterested in being there and was not helpful. The bartender was nice but the drinks were overpriced for Rock Hill! I mean come on!! $8.50 for a Captain and Coke!!! I know bars in Charlotte that don't charge that much. The course was not kept up and groomed. The cart paths felt like driving on a mountain side. All broken up and rigid. The cost of greens fees are overpriced for the poor quality of the course. There are several other courses that are nicer and cheaper that I can choose from. Until they lower the prices and raise the quality of the course up I will not go back nor recommend this course!
Poor conditioned course
I read previous reviews about poor tee boxes etc and I would agree. Pace of play on the front was slow, over 2 hours being held up by a twosome of all things. Greens were good, but long and very slow. I would not play here again unless the fee was 25 or less.
This course has it all
Great course with all the features for a challenging round. It works you game from left to right and long to short. Must Play!
Good layout with decent conditions.
Played this course on the 4th of July as a twosome and got paired with another 2-some. Due to the storm from the night before it was cart path only. Finished the round in 4hr 45 min which I believe was good considering it was a holiday and cart path only. Course conditions were good on most of the holes. Some of the tee boxes needed work done, but fairways and greens were in great shape. Bunkers were in good condition as well.
From the start we were having some issues with our cart where it would not start immediately. We would have to toggle back and forth with the key and put it in reverse and back to start it. We called the clubhouse on the third hole and were notified that they would "try" to get us a cart. Did not have anyone come help us. We had to keep working with the cart to get it moving, sometimes having to push it to get it started. We had to swap our carts at the turn. We even mentioned the cart number (#48).
Good greens, decent fairways, horrible cart paths.
We enjoyed our round at Waterford today but not sure I plan to play here on a regular basis. Likely to visit once every 3 or 4 months if I can get a deal.
The layout and the greens are it's best attributes. Course has some interesting holes that are somewhat challenging.
The greens seem to have recovered from punching a few weeks back. They were a little slow but in very good shape.
Fairways were in decent to good shape.
The tee boxes are between fair and horrible. Half of them were not bad, but the other half were either overgrown or dirt. Played with my wife and the ladies tee on the 18 was so overgrown, we could not see her feet from the cart path.
The cart paths: I know they can't replace all the paths, that would be outrageously expensive...but, at least fill in the pot holes that are 6-8 inches deep...or try to do something where the roots are making motocross ramps out of the paths. BEWARE: you need to be careful driving every path. If you don't pay attention, you could hit a ramp so hard, that you hit your head on the roof of the cart. No, I am not kidding.
All in all, this is a decent course for the money. Try to get a deal on Golfnow.
Mosquito atrium
Bring your game and deet (mosquito spray) , and you'll enjoy a challenging round.
Waterford
Fairways were good, but tee boxes all need work. Lots of work. Greens aerated and just filling in. The tee boxes were just aweful!!!!
Punched green
I think that GolfNow should inform you that the greens have been punched or if there is any maintenance on the course the course would be great if the Grange were not
Nice course, greens not so great
First time played this course Sat. May 27, 2017. Overall the course was in good shape. Tee boxes and fairways in good shape. Only complaint is, greens had recently been aerated, which made putting kind of a joke. (not that my putting is stellar, but this was pretty bad)
Staff was friendly. Had a very good time. Great value through Golfnow.com
I will play this course again.
Are you a golf prima dona? While the club house is not spectacular, the course itself is not in poor condition. The cart paths are for sure, but not the course. If you're an average golfer and don't want high traffic, this is a great course!
