Save your money and play elsewhere
We paid $85 per person to play what I was told was a nice course. Let me tell you, out of all the courses I have played in Myrtle Beach, this was by far the worst condition course I have played. The fairways were uneven and the grass was terrible. the rough was brown and very spotty. the bunkers were not manicured at all. It was like playing out of concrete. It did rain the day before, but they didn't even manicure them at all the next day. The greens were very bumpy and inconsistent. I know it is the spring, but the course was bad compared to others we played. If the course was in good shape it would be awesome and tough with a lot of the holes running alongside the road and all the water hazards. It is a $40 course at best in the condition that it is currently in.
Beautiful Day in MB
Nice course. A little pricey for this type of course. (but that appears the going rate for this time of year down here)
Original MB layout. In the middle of everything but very nice semi-secluded layout. Great for average bogey player. Safe driver landing areas. Greens and Fairways were in very good condition. Rough still coming in and bunkers were below average. Pace of play was excellent even with a 9am Tee Time.
Always Enjoyable
Played 36 holes in early spring as fairways were in good shape and rough was growing in. A little wet after 3 days if rain, but held up well in draining with only a few cart path only holes.
Enjoyable course, friendly staff, good challenge. I would readily play here again.
Redone greatly improved course
My cousin , son ,and I played on SAturday morning . I have played the course in 40 years , the course is the most improved course tgat I have played , this last year I played Primland which is the best course I have ever played . But Arcadian Shores we pkayeec in Labor Day Weekend at Myrtle Beach , the staff was friendly , I used every club in my bag therefore the layout was good . We enjoyed a beverage after the round and the staff was friendly and made you feel like you were at home . It was great value for a great golfing experience . I would highly recommend this golfing experience to other golfers
classic
This is a classic old style course by Rees Jones that features angles and risk reward opportunities. It was early spring and very wet yet the fairways seemed to drain really well. Fairways and greens were in midseason condition.
Very nice
Played here during family vacation end of July. I’ve been coming to myrtle since I was a kid and I’ve played almost all the decent courses here but never Arcadian. Guy at the pga tour superstore recommended it to us. Says they did a lot of renovations there. Course has an old time myrtle beach feel to it. Similar to the Dunes and pine lakes. Cart paths appeared all new. Greens were very nice. Fairways wet from week and a half of rain. Cart path only. Enjoyed my experience and will be back maybe in spring with the boys.
Good old course
In the 30 years we have been coming down to Myrtle Beach, we had never played this course. Arcadian Shores was a pleasant experience. It was busier than courses we normally play, but the pace was still 3:56. The greens rolled very true and there was just enough difficulty due to the large bunkers that guard the greens.
New Cart Paths at Arcadian
Course is in good shape Some of the fairways are a little toasty (If you hit it in the fairway and it lands in a bare spot, just roll it on to some grass this ain't the Open man) but for the most part they're OK. Greens were in outstanding condition. Rolled nice and held fine. Every hole is guarded by bunkers and there are some 2nd shot carries over water(see photo). Its not that long but accuracy is key(isn't it always?) if you want to score. And as an added pleasure, all the cart paths have been re-done.It Was like riding on the Garden State Parkway.
Recent Reno's nice but still more to do
I played this course for the first in a few years. They recently put a good chunk of money into the course and the clubhouse. On the course it was mainly the greens is my understanding while the clubhouse was a complete rebuild. The clubhouse is much nicer and the grill was open early in the morning they even made a burger for a friend at 8am. Odd choice for 8am food but hey who am I to judge.
Anyhow from a course conditions stand point the greens are definitely nice they weren't overly fast but with them being completely new surfaces that's understandable. Off the greens fairways were in decent shape with some patch areas but the Bermuda rough was struggling. Given the winter we have had down here (lots of winter kill of Bermuda) its hard to judge if its lack of maintenance or weather related so have to wait and see on the rough and fairways. From a layout standpoint its a strong older layout with dog legs and smaller greens. Its not long depending on the tees you play from and if you hit em straight you can score and if they are crooked you have chances to recover. Pace of play was decent for it being peak season waited on some holes and other times it moved along.
Staff was on the quieter side but friendly.
So final assessment its a decent place to play but for 92$ peak season its a little on the high side but if they continue to improve conditions then this place can become a solid spot to play. Its worth paying attention to how it goes.
Great condition
We had played Arcadian Shores about 4 years ago and it was not in that great of shape. We we're disappointed to say the least. So we avoided playing there ever since. We just recently read where they made some major improvements to the course. Well we decided to give them another try while we were in town for a few days. WOW not the course I remembered. The course was in spectacular shape and this is January. All new cart paths, all new greens, all new club house and bathrooms on the course and the fairways were great. The greens, I don't know what kind of grass they are but it almost looks fake. They roll really nice. It is going to be in really nice in the spring/summer. Definitely worth the time to play now.
The Scenary
On the waterway... views might not get too much better.... front 9 is very much where you need to score... back 9 will get you. I love playing this course!
Nice course
Its a must play course clubhouse is going through major renovations they have a trailer setup as proshop not a big deal still works.Staff were very friendly.
Great course in great shae
Played this course on Tuesday and had a great time. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Course was full of golfers and we still finished our round in less than 4 hours. Staff was very friendly. You should play this course when you are in town.
Great bang for your buck
First time playing Arcadian Shores. Made tee time the night before. Front nine played under 2 hours. Course was in decent shape for winter. Old Reese Jones design, and you can see his attempts at protecting par. A lot of bunker carries to greens. Fun layout, perfect challenge for my 3 kids. Will go back for sure. Conditions aren't like the high end courses, but for $33, great deal !!
come a long way
I have played Arcadian Shores many times and I have been amazed the past few times how hard they have worked to restore the conditions to where they were years ago. Frank and his Superintendent have the course in the best condition, greens are fast and true, fairways are lush and bunkers are in good shape. The elevations changes and doglegs make a golfer have to think around the course. when the new club house is done they will have a top notch facility at a great price.
Maybe 20 Years Ago
The layout of this course was good, but the maintenance was pure junk..
Leaves everywhere, hard bunkers, a dark green different type of grass growing on the greens, in bad shape.
Putting Green rolled fast and true, greens on the course were just awful. Couple guys in our group played this course 20 years ago and said it was in perfect shape, not the day we played.
Fairways were hard and erratic. Just a bad round of golf
Great course to start your Myrtle Beach golf trip.
Course is well maintained. Good course to start your golf trip with. The course is laid out in front of you. No gimmick holes. Good ole golf course.
Great conditions. Challenging over water holes.
Play from the blues to see the beauty of the course.
Rewards good shots with lots of birdie opportunities
Good course for staying on top of your game from tee to green.
