Long Bay Club
About
The Long Bay Club boasts a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, a major accomplishment when you're competing with golf destinations such as Hilton Head and Kiawah Island. The landscape showcases the beauty of the Lowcountry with forests of pines, dogwoods, and maple trees divided by clear blue streams. The golf course design closely mimics the natural contours of the terrain but there are also countless large, man-made mounds that were seamlessly sculpted into the surroundings. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses on the Grand Strand. Golfers will face numerous bunkers that are seemingly bottomless as well as vast waste areas. The signature hole is the par-4 10th, which features a u-shaped waste area that completely surrounds the fairway and then crosses in front of the elevated, contoured green.

Excellent Course
If you're in the Myrtle Beach area, you need to play this course. You won't be disappointed. Its a GEM!
Good day
Rained night before and courses on Rt 9 don’t drain well That being said the course was in good shape and the greens were fine
Exceptional service
Played Thanksgiving day. Course had taken a lot of rain but held up well. Golf shop staff was exceptional.
I expected more
First let me say the course is fine.
Some of the other reviews led me to believe this was going to be spectacular. It’s in a neighborhood and looks like most other suburb golf course.
Spoiler alert,…..the signature hole you see in the pictures is not surrounded by bunkers. Those bunkers are some sort of “hard pan” that you can hit out of easily and even drive through/on them. But there are plenty of well-placed bunkers around the course.
The conditions were plush tee to green. The fairways were green with plenty of grass and the Bermuda rough was starting to green up. The greens had some inconsistencies, but rolled pretty true.
The greens are tiny. From the back tees this would make for a long day because most of the tiny greens are surrounded by bunkers.
I don’t care about some things that other people write about….so I won’t mention the condition of the cart paths and the long line at the grill. But there was a beverage cart that came around at least three times in 4.5 hours.
Fortunately, there had been no rain so the course was fairly firm.
I will say this……he members run around the course and do all of the things the starter tells the out-of-towners we cannot do drive close to the green, drive close to the tee boxes, etc….
I think for the money, and for the drive from where I was staying, I would skip this next time. There are nicer, less expensive course to play. But it was great playing a new course, and thanks to the overall conditions, I played pretty well.
Will be back for sure
Keep in mind this was a late December round. Some positives - the staff was very friendly, took great care of me. In fact, they allowed me to play very early as a single, so my pace of play was FLYING. Obviously during peak season there's no way that could happen...however in this case it did, so full marks. Clubhouse/grill staff was also very friendly/engaging. The greens were in excellent condition (especially considering the previous week we had record low temps in the Southeast). Fairways and rough are dormant at this time of year. Bunkers had sand and were raked (and plenty of rakes around them - not always the case at many courses. So again. Very positive experience all around. I will absolutely play again, but please do keep in mind I didn't play at a peak time of year - I'd imagine in April or October you're going to be looking at more people on the course - but also much more lush conditions.
Slow pace
Waiting from the first hole until the last one
5 hours too slow for us.4 1/2 hours should be the maximum and it is slow at this pace
Unfortunately i will not go back
Forgot how much fun the course was
Played this course many years ago. Forgot how good the layout was. Will definitely play again when visiting Myrtle Beach.
