Osprey Point is a Tom Fazio design that offers picturesque views from every hole. Into this backdrop Fazio created a masterpiece of playability and variety, a favorite of resort guests alike.
Osprey Point is known for two things that sets it apart from its sister courses at Kiawah Island - the course is much more playable for the average golfer and there are reptiles everywhere.
But the same thing that brings the alligators - wide-open fairways - is also what brings the golfers.
Still, the Tom Fazio-designed course has several opportunities for disaster, especially with a few tempting risk-reward chances. So while the course is playable, it will take some thinking and courage to translate that to a good score.
"If played from the back tees, it can bite you, just like the alligators if you get too close," said TravelGolf.com writer Tim McDonald. "And water is in play on 10 holes."
And mind you, "more playable" at Kiawah is subjective - Osprey Point has a slope rating of 136. It also has fairly steep green fees depending on the season.
