The Ocean Course more than lives up to its name as you'll find yourself in the presence of the Atlantic throughout your round. The end result of that visual pleasure is that it can be a wildly windy experience playing the island course, where some holes will have as much as an eight-club difference on successive days depending on the wind direction.
The Pete Dye-designed course plays more than 7,900 from the back tees and there are several forced carries. Still, Dye has tweaked the original design in the past to help make the course more playable for higher handicappers.
"The ocean is the star here: the course has more seaside holes (10) than any other course in the Northern hemisphere," said TravelGolf.com writer Tim McDonald. "The Ocean course is a must-play if you're in the area."
The course is open to the public but it will run you, though people staying at the resort get a big discount and preference.
