Two years after the Palmetto Hall Plantation opened the Arthur Hills Course, the 18-hole Robert Cupp Course, named after its famous designer, opened. Considered the more difficult of the two, the semi-private course has a completely original and creative layout. Bob Cupp, Golf World's Golf Architect of the Year in 1992, used a computer to design the layout therefore the course features many sharp angles, straight lines, and geometrically shaped hazards. The difficult course challenges even seasoned golfers but it is also playable by higher handicappers. The rolling landscape that characterizes both courses at the Palmetto Hall Plantation adds to the difficulty of each.
